Nedum Onuoha thank you for your honesty.

I never understood that. Do you have a timeliness of those events ?
I was at the game and knew nothing about it.
There is always speculation about managers getting the bullet, Hughes for example, I heard that driving up to the game.
I thought Mancini was a great football coach, that QPR Day although we won, certainly was the beginning of the end for him.
Constant bickering, always wanting more money, criticism of the club , despite the shadow of FFP., it is a sharp contrast to Pep, who has never(to my knowledge) said a negative word about the hierarchy.
Journalists at City’s press conference, midweek, before the final were informed Mancini was getting sacked. It was retold by Paddy Barclay on Talkshite later on.

I was on the roundabout before the game and it was common knowledge. Hence the chants of stick your Pelligrini up Your Arse. (Pelli did a fine job for us as you know btw).

Being brought up to love the Cup Final and having it devalued by our employees was sad, though I can accept it was a genuine mistake. That’s at a whole different level of football vandalism IMHO than swearing on the side of the pitch vs QPR.

If people say Mancini’s time was up the fair enough. I am sure some of the criticisms of Mancini were legit but he’s a hero to the majority of Blues. Picking holes in him 10 years after the event and a couple of years after leading Italy to triumph in the Euros doesn’t get us very far. In fact most Blues (apart from youngsters) only know us as being unpredictable.

Back to the topic. I like Nedum. He’s a great communicator. I accept what some posters have said that he was just retelling his recollections of the QPR game. The Mancini part might help him sell a few books but if I was on the pitch I would have made sure City got a pen or an OG. I was never good enough and this thread is partly about “honesty”.

Laughable.
Mate, what’s laughable is you and one or two others standing with your fingers in your ears and eyes closed, like football’s flat earthers, denying the irrefutable mountain of evidence in front of your very eyes.

Mancini won the league for us but then got sacked for being a **** to everyone resulting in performances dropping off. It has happened to him in every single job he’s in. That’s it. You can still love him if you want but you have to accept the fact that he was a ****.

This is all rubbish. Barcelona leaked the fact that City were talking to other managers the night before the cup final. City were distraught and embarrassed about this. Mancini knew he was was going so hung Vicky Kloss out to dry in the press conference, saying “ask Vicky” when he was asked about his future. This is because he wanted City to brief the media that he was staying but they couldn’t because he wasn’t.

I believe that he would have been sacked and Pep appointed on 2012 had Aguero not scored against QPR. That’s how divisive he had already become and how his abrasive personality was not right for the City growth project.

I couldn't care less if fans liked Mancini or not but to say you were at the game and heard nothing about it is amazing.
Did you not hear you can stick your Pellegrini chants at any part of the day.

Most people have flaws Dave. That’s life. According to your argument George Best and Stan Bowles were shit footballers because they didn’t always fulfil their potential. Try telling that to rags and QPR fans.

Mancini is a serial winner with Inter, City and Italy. Yes the results start to dry up after years, as with most managers. Big deal.

As I’ve said to AsaHartford, Nedum is
probably just retelling his recollections of the final day and maybe using a big personality like Mancini to try to sell a few more books. That’s his choice but it’s a bit sad for Blues to jump on the bandwagon to keep having pops at Mancini.

It’s not “sad”. It’s football. He isn’t some kind of deity. Don’t be so sensitive about it.

You are full of it Dave. So you’re telling Paddy Barclay and other journalists they are liars. I have heard the Barca stuff before Dave but the timeline just doesn’t add up.

City have had a load of great employees and anyone can make a mistake. That doesn’t justify defending the indefensible.

We’ve had another enormous fook up in recent days with no netting placed between 6k of scousers and 2 tiers of fellow Blues. Shock horror when missiles were rained down on our fans and your beloved club bureaucrats issued a joint statement.

I know what happened mate and my information didn’t come from any fucking journalist.

I’ll leave it at that because I know how much it hurts you.

I've worked with Nedum loads. I've worked with lots of ex City players before, but never hit it off with one like I did with him. Probably helps that he's about my age admittedly, but we're just similar people I'd guess. He's ace and always up for a chat away the city work stuff to the extent that he's not far off from me labelling him a friend really. A colleague at very least. Either way, he's a genuinely lovely bloke. Loves nothing more than a good chat about anything really. Oh and obviously he's a huge blue. Amazed that anyone would doubt that.

Oh and I don't think his dislike of Mancini is based on anything other than Mancini just being an absolute arse to him, as he was with loads. Hardly unknown that Mancini could be a very, very difficult character so not sure it's any deeper than that and pretty understandable in general given we've all had a boss we've disliked at some point.
I’ve never had a boss like Mancini.

So despite the club struggling with ffp and facing Eufa action you agreed with his actions of publicly asking for more cash despite its consequences.
A club which had provided unique capital to its coaches were being constantly criticised by its most important employee. He was not a popular person at the club, nothing to do with the kit man and the players he fell out with, but the decision makers and management..
No, I think he took us from under achieving to champions but his management style wasn’t conducive to longevity so was the right time to part ways. He had every reason to ask for the cash for the type of quality player he felt we needed to push on and after chasing said quality players he was given far inferior ones and it was the beginning of the end. That’s the long and short of it for me and I’ve no intention of slagging off the man who laid the groundwork for where we are now. I don’t blame the club for the decision they ultimately made but I also don’t blame Mancini either.
