I like this bit:
David Moyes made an unsuccessful £9million bid to sign Negredo for Everton last January. West Ham scouts also monitored his progress and there was talk of interest from Hull

He went right under teh radar of the big clubs and we snapped him up. Great business, City. I wouldn't swap him for Tevez or Balotelli.
Yeah, those 3 clubs are definitely at a lower level than City in terms of their aims and prospects. The fact that Negredo wasn't on the radar for the likes of Chelsea or Arsenal, who are both crying out for a striker, or Spurs for that matter, who went shopping in Spain and bought the talented, but clearly inferior, Soldado speaks volumes for Pellegrini's knowledge of the Spanish market. He could clearly see that negredo was ideally suited to English football, and was willing to take a chance on a player who wasn't a "big name". The scouting networks for those other big clubs need to take a long, hard, look at themselves. They've let a (relatively) cheap, top quality striker slip through their fingers.
