Negredo

It's why I have always thought that MP took Barry aside before the season and said I don't have a spot for you in the side this season but you are welcome to stay should you wish to.

Rightly or wrongly MP saw Barry surplus to requirements and Barry thought a move would be required to maximise his chances of playing in a World Cup.

Not every manager would do this but I believe its best to know where you stand in the pecking order.

Barry could have stayed and fought for a spot and injuries to others may have given him his opportunity but chose not to.

Cannot blame either party as a manager rides on his decisions with personnel and a player has to do what he thinks is best for him at the time.

In this case its probably worked out well for both parties.
Why are you talking about Barry on a Negredo thread?

You will find other players mentioned on threads titled a certain player all the time.

I thought it appropriate to relate the story on Negredo about his time at Real under MP and the approach he said he took with him then.

I am confident its how he approached Barry and I think its the right way to go.

Do it face to face do it quickly and not through the media.

It was more to do with Negredo and hopefully the respect he has for his manager whether he starts a game or not.

Respect is the most critical component in the relationship , if you haven't got that you haven't got much else.

Probably doesn't answer your question but that's what I thought was appropriate to relay.

I like this bit:

David Moyes made an unsuccessful £9million bid to sign Negredo for Everton last January. West Ham scouts also monitored his progress and there was talk of interest from Hull
.

He went right under teh radar of the big clubs and we snapped him up. Great business, City. I wouldn't swap him for Tevez or Balotelli.

Yeah, those 3 clubs are definitely at a lower level than City in terms of their aims and prospects. The fact that Negredo wasn't on the radar for the likes of Chelsea or Arsenal, who are both crying out for a striker, or Spurs for that matter, who went shopping in Spain and bought the talented, but clearly inferior, Soldado speaks volumes for Pellegrini's knowledge of the Spanish market. He could clearly see that negredo was ideally suited to English football, and was willing to take a chance on a player who wasn't a "big name". The scouting networks for those other big clubs need to take a long, hard, look at themselves. They've let a (relatively) cheap, top quality striker slip through their fingers.
I don't think he'd fit in at Chelsea to be honest. They don't play down the flanks. You need a Kolarov/Navas to get Negredo scoring this many goals. Chelsea don't really play that way. He's the perfect fit for City. I don't think he'd do quite this well at other clubs.
