Negredo

Fuck me the guy was out for a few weeks with a shoulder injury and clearly hasn't been fully fit

If Aguero or Jovetic had been fit in the last month id hazard a guess as to whether Negredo would have even been in our squad

He's pretty much had a two week break now so I expect him to be raring to go tomorrow if selected

Embarrassing to see people say 'hes not up to it at the moment', hes not been fit for nearly 2 months

Some very short memories in our fanbase at times

I don't think it is unreasonable to point out that he has been playing really badly. Nobody is having a go at him, everyone realises how good he is but the truth is that whether it be confidence, not being fully fit or a mixture of the two, playing with him has been more or less like playing with 10 men in recent weeks. Dzeko, despite being an incredibly ordinary player who isn't fit to lace Negredo's boots when Negredo is even in half decent form is playing better than him. I think tomorrow is the ideal opportunity for Negredo to work towards getting some form back so I hope he starts but if we were playing a decent team tomorrow, I'd definitely not want to start with him because for me, starting with a player who has been utterly anonymous for weeks in a big game would be a risk. I'm not sure why that annoys you.

Agreed. What would be embarrassing is if people blindly defended someone without seeing any fault.
Negredo clearly is a great player, and had a phenomenal first half of the season. Like you say, his form has dropped, and quite dramatically. It's not wrong to point this out. He needs to sort his form out, which I am sure he will. Based on current form, though, he doesn't get in the team. I accept, though, that he hasnt been fit.

He hasn't been fit for about 6 weeks, anyone who has had a shoulder injury will know that its one of the worst injuries you can have and will certainly have affected his confidence

What annoys me is people saying hes not up to it at the moment, he's hardly played in the last month and when he has played he's not looked fit, like I said if Aguero or Jovetic had been fit Negredo probably wouldn't even have been on the bench in the last few weeks

Just think this is the time to get behind players that are struggling a little bit rather than questioning them

Well if he isn't fit he isn't up to it at the moment then.

Not saying he isn't good enough anymore. On current form he isn't in the team. If it's because he isn't fit, then he isnt up to it. When he's fit, he will be.

I think people do get behind him every time he's on the pitch (which is all that matters) because he is absolutely loved. But there is nothing wrong with people pointing out on here that his form has dropped off dramatically. If the derby was tomorrow, I'd worry about him starting but it is Fulham so I expect him to start. If he looks like the real Negredo then immediately everything changes and I'd want him to start on Tuesday, if he still looks well out of sorts then I wouldn't. I'm sure he hasn't been fully fit but he hasn't even been able to control simple balls played into his feet so I suspect it is a loss of confidence too in which case expecting him to suddenly turn his form round overnight might be expecting too much. Hopefully not though and hopefully a match against Fulham after a good rest is just what he needs.

That's what Im saying hes had a two week break so I would imagine he will be back to full fitness, so he should be up to it tomorrow

Lets be honest we need him and Dzeko both scoring goals and tomorrow is a perfect game to get him back on track

Yea i agree with that mate.

Just needs a goal to go in off his ass and he will be back on the track. Its amazing how much confidence is such an important factor in football, no matter what level you play at if your having a shocker even the absolute basics seem difficult.

Hopefully a good performance from him and the team tomorrow gets everyone back on track, which is what we need going into the next few games.

It will matter a lot when Negredo finds his name on the scoring sheet tomorrow. It might kick-start him back to his earlier devastating form. He needs to start though. Dzeko is much better to bring on as a sub rather than Negredo.
Us not scoring too many goals lately has to do with Aguero's absence, no doubt, but Negredo failing to find his earlier for has been as big a blow to as.

His shoulder injury seems to be really affecting him, is this something that will require surgery in the summer, or was it just a case of him not getting the chance to rest it because of our injury trouble up front. Anyway we definitely need the beast on top form as Kun and Jovetic can't seem to break into a sprint without tearing their hamstring at the moment.

Negredo needs a goal and fulham are the ideal opposition , hes been superb this season but we need him back to his best to have a chance of the Premiership.

Negredo looks twice the player alongside Aguero too so if we can get and keep Aguero fit then I'm sure trhat will help Negredo a lot.

What's weird about Negredo is that it clearly isn't just a dip in form. We have all seen strikers go through periods where nothing goes in, and they start snatching at shots, making things worse. It's the fact that one of his biggest strengths was imposing himself physically on the centre half, and coming away with something in many of the 50:50s - being a great "outlet" ball.

He is not doing that at the moment, so it has to be pain from the injury and the psycologocal impact of that.

Looking forward to seeing him tomorrow. He will get through this, he's a ballsy lad.

A brace tomorrow... Edin with the 3rd.

Was thinking exactly same as couple of posters above. To me, no brainer for tomorrow - get Negrodo starting and get him scoring.

A fully firing Beast, alongside a fully-fit Aguero, with Jovetic and Dzeko adding to the combinations, then the run-in begins to look a whole lot more positive. We just need to keep the buggers fit because not one of our rivals would come close to having the depth of firepower we would have.

I talked to a Sevilla fan earlier in the thread that kinda intimated that's just part of Negredo.

When he turned up he played out of his skin and now he's had a blip. Likely he'll average out at a more true level somewhat below his early season form, like he has most of his career.

A very good player, but one we may have already seen the absolute best of.

Maybe just a case of him getting a little burnt out? Never has he had to play as many games in his career. Our system clearly suits him and his partnership with Kun is unbelievable. They both need to get on the pitch together again. Maybe he can develop some chemistry with Jovetic this weekend.

On another note, he was voted signing of the season by all the PL managers: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11679/9223964

Great signing. I think Ferna could be considered our best signing too (despite the price tag!)

Think we should give him some great vocal backing, along with the team and help fire them up. Every point matters now and I'd love an inform Negredo and Dzeko like we did in Decemember/January.

Alvaro!

Negredo!

OT. but in the same article it says "Manchester United fans are considered to give the best away support".

Well that's because none of the fuckers live in Manchester FFS!
