Neil Young

I played safe on my commute this morning - On the Beach.

Beautiful........
They uploaded 50 new songs onto the NYA website yesterday, with one of the highlights being an early recording of Ambulance Blues dating from 1973. It's really worth a listen.

Of the rest of the songs released, there are around 30 versions of songs from the Buffalo Springfield era or earlier. The other 20 are from his solo career 1968-74.

The big highlight for me is the first ever release of one of his 'missing' songs from the mid 70s - Barefoot Floors. Not sure why it was left off the NYA2 box edition, it's a great tune. Until yesterday we only had the version sung by Nicolette Larsen.

Front cover of this months Uncut.
Looks like an article from Buffalo Springfield onwards.

It's been an extraordinarily productive period recently for new releases, mainly a backlog of live albums and previously unreleased studio albums from the various decades, and including of course the Archives Volume 2 box set.

The online archives has also gone up another notch as an additional live concert performance (in its entirety) is being uploaded on a weekly basis, usually on a Wednesday.

Are there any full show official releases from the 82 Trans tour? I know there’s a video of part of a German show that’s been around for ages, but wondered if the online archive have made a full high quality release available?

No, not yet. Just the Berlin movie you've already seen.

Archives Vol 3 will probably cover 1982, I'll let you know as soon as I see any lists of albums and tracks.

There's also a good chance there will be a "Concert of the Week" from this period released soon (not a physical copy, but a stream you can access at any time once its been released)

Thanks pal, I’d appreciate that.

Live Rust is in my top 5 ever, and was that a 78 (or was it 79) concert? As such, the other shows I’d be interested would be another one from that same tour.

This week's Concert of the Week on the NYA site is the Melbourne, 2013 show with Crazy Horse. Were you there?

The performance is nearly 3 hours long, and is definitely worth a listen if you haven't already checked it out.
Wouldn't have missed it for quids.

Rod Laver Arena didn't do his best acoustics justice would have been better at the bowl but March 15 was a great night had by all.

No not the City player, the Canadian one.
Any fans ?
He's just released his 1974 album Homegrown.
He recorded it just after On The Beach. But never released it till now.
Really nice laid back introspective songs like it's predecessor.
Recommended for fans of his.
Finally got round to do a proper chronological listen to his studio albums, some for the first time ever - obviously it's taking me quite a bit and I have to stop and listen to whatever BlueHammer's album of the week is every so often, but as I expected it's all good stuff up to now (except for that country album one). Just played Trans and loved that, didn't expect him to go that route. 14 down just another 25 albums or so to do.
