neilsen

To be fair the defence was magnificent yesterday , and didn't let Arsenal get close enough to really test him ....... probably just as well too!

he commanded his box and he came for 2 crosses and won both clean, straight away i know this guy won't fuck about with high balls.

finally we might have a keeper who will command his box, for any defender it is always good knowing your keeper can do this, our back 4 won't be dissapointed Nielson is behind them, if he can command our back 4 will take that and so will i, just gonna be interesting to see what his shot stopping is like.

I have faith in Nielsen, do us proud.

I love the optimism! I think we can be sure he would give his all but basing your comments on 2 crosses doesnt quite guaranteee too much.If you had seen the reserve game v Hull a while back you wouldnt be as sure.

Is he the first ever Faroe Island player to have played in the EPL now by the way?

Yeah he is, The Faroes are going crazy about it, look at the national newspaper:

4 articles today about it!

City are the only Premier League team to visit the Faroes, and City are the only team to have ever fielded a Faroese player in the Premier League.

My teacher always told me that those classes we had in school where we were forced into reading "old-norse" would come handy. Because Faroe Island is so isolated they pretty much still write the way the Vikings used to, only with a latin alphabet :)
I can understand those articles, bet I'm the only City fan who can haha.

Erm it's hard to understand it fully. Something about a book about MCFC, you being in hospital in Torshavn?

Phew, no damming lies or scandals then.

The interesting fact is that Gunnar had never played in any top flight game in any country prior to yesterday - and he has never played a competitive game for the Faroes either!

He moved from the Faroes to Denmark when he was 15. Played some seasons for Frem Copenhagen in the second tier of Danish football, being second choice most of the time. Since moving to Britain, he had represented Blackburn and Motherwell on loan, without making first team debut.

Gunnar has yet to make his competitive debut for the Faroes, having always been selected for U-teams, because of the very experienced stopper Jákup Mikkelsen (once at Partick Thistle), who recently retired from the National team at the age of 39. In fact, Gunnar only has played who friendly matches for the Faroes, both of them indoors and away to Iceland.

The highlights of his Faroes debut last year can be seen here - the Faroes also won their very first derby against Iceland, in the 20th attempt or so:
