Netflix: Squid game

loved it to bits, still go back and watch the episodes after completing the series. But a couple of plot holes for me: why after winning all the money, was Gi-Hun not chased by the loan sharks that were after him before he entered the games? We see he doesnt spend a penny of the money, so how is he able to evade them? Secondly, we initially find out that the police officer Jun-Ho's brother has been missing for a few days. But yet he turns out to be the front man in the games, and previously won them back in 2015. Surely this means he will have been missing for a lot longer than a few days?

All in all superb show, really gripping.

Seeing as some haven't seen it apparently

When he visits Il-nam he says to him you havent touch most of your money, so doesn't mean he didn't pay them off.
Also in the flashback to him deciding to play the game he asks In-ho to look after the games for him so maybe he wouldn't have normally just dissapeared in an instance before.

I will be honest I guessed the old fella was the front man about 5 episodes in, also the cards in the game Gong Yoo(nice cameo btw) plays with potential players/guards were significant.

you mean, like every series?
Korean TV isn't usually like that, they normally only run for one self contained series with no intention of sequels (which is obviouslymuch better). Unfortunately Netflix has seen the success of Korean TV and started making their own, but americanising it with the open ended series. Almost none of them actually get second series as that's not how Korean actors expect to work, so instead you get left with great concepts that never get resolved

Finished it last night.

Brutal but compelling. The last episode was far better than I expected based on the comments I'd seen on here. I do think it would be better as a one-off series but given that I have never watched Korean TV before, I was expecting it to set-up a second season.

Thought it was good. Not great though. Some genuinely terrible bits, contrasted with brilliance. The VIPs were just awfully written - their dialogue was comically bad. That little 'bad guy gang' too with that woman. My skin crawled every time they were on camera. Really, really cheesy. Did overall enjoy it though. Some really fun moments.

English speaking actors in Korea are always God awful. Its a really small pool of actors who are in everything and they are clearly told to speak slowly, aimed at the Korean audience, so to actual English speakers it sounds unbelievably shit
