I found it quite amusing watching Brazil get beaten earlier. But I’m wishing they’d won now. Would have been one hell of an occasion watching them and Argentina clash in the semi. Loads of credit to Croatia the way they constantly over achieve but you’re almost guaranteed a bore fest with them involved.
 
I had to laugh at that ridiculous challenge for the free kick with 20 seconds left. Was it Otamendi?

The Dutch had all the momentum but when ET came they settled for pens and came unstuck. Their own fault if you ask me. Had they carried on attacking they could have won that.

Good pens from the Argies though.

The reason I consider Messi to be number 1 is because he’s the only player ever who had the amazing talent on the ball and also the ability to be a great goal scorer.

Only Maradona is on the level of Messi in terms of natural ability but Maradona wasn’t a great goalscorer like Messi was. A scorer of great goals, yes, but not someone who would pull off outrageous figures year after year.

It’s also the reason I never understood why some people thought Ronaldo was better than Messi. Ronaldo was a great great goalscorer and one of the best ever but he was no where near the talent of Messi with the ball at his feet. Genuinely not even close.

Free run to the final ? Croatia is not a great team but they are one of the toughest teams to play in a KO round, solid defensively and they never give up, they know how to shithouse their way to victory.

I know they was boring but what a performance that was from them today, from a purely tactical perspective it was just as good as it gets, closed down everything, always in shape, blocked everything, intricate passing, keeping so many star players quiet and Modric gliding past the Brazilian midfield - that was the most impressive performance for me so far at the WC
