Foden has been frigging fantastic.
Bellingham is a passenger and holds onto the ball too long.

It’s the first game they’ve played using Phil properly and it’s glaringly obvious it’s the way to go, and also noticeable that Bellend is a show pony with no end product. Give the ball to Phil and go where he tells you.
Southgate will probably take him off because he’s making Bellend look bad.
Carry on the same way and it should be 3 or 4-1.

I saw it as, he went to block the ball and Kane kicked his foot. It certainly wasnt a clear and obvious error, if it had been, we wouldn't all be arguing over it.

The issue for me was that his studs were up.

I think two things can be true at the same time:

1) It’s probably a penalty (just) because of Dumfries’ studs going toward Kane’s foot, rather than away (which would be the case if he was trying to block the shot, rather than nick the ball away)

2) England were very lucky that VAR decided to have the ref over to watch the incident back—most often those are not given as penalties when the player gets the shot off (as illustrated by the 20 or 30 non-penalty studs up challenges in the box we were on the end of last season).

Kane kicked the spherical object. The defender, not being in the correct position, attempted to stop the shot in the only way he could. Stretching with his studs showing, throwing his weight behind a bad challenge.
Anyway, it was a pen.

The issue for me was that his studs were up.

He's got good games in him. He makes plenty of mistakes but today is one of those good days for sure so far.

I think he's a good player on the ball

I've been critical of him for the rags but he was expected to do more defensive duties and try to run the midfield for them, even though he is young and I don't think the defensive side of midfield is his forte

I think if you get a good defensive midfielder behind him and let him play, then they've got a good little player
