Le Pays-Bas (Netherlands.That's logical, because of Pays, i.e. un pays). Equally, le Pays de Galles (Wales). But le Kazakhstan. Why? Again, go figure. It might be because doesn't the suffix “stan” mean country, as in Hindustan, Uzbekistan, etc.?
