New article by citykev28

Dont want to look like a fool but I have been talking to my older brother and as he reminded me it did have the number 2 on the back, as I was so young I had forgot this, I was just glad I had a City shirt when all my mates played in tee shirts. Now that he has told me this I remember it in fact he said it did have a number it was me who rembered it was number 2.

No numbers on the back but I (kevs dad) was told it had been worn by City players, it was a short sleaved v neck shirt .

I want to know what happened to the shirt your Granddad found and your Dad played in.There were no replicas available in those days. Did it have a number on the back?

"You got on the wrong Bus”, following this article I just read on Blue Moon thought I might recall for all my tale of becoming a City fan.
Dad was a red, my uncles were reds my older cousins were reds, whilst I was a 10 year old who enjoyed both watching on telly and pretending to be either City or United between the jumpers for goal posts on the back field. These were in the days of Tommy Docherty and Tony Book and whilst there was the expected amount of family peer pressure to declare undying love for United I was really not bothered one way or the other at that stage.
One day me and a few mates decided that we were going to go to the match one Saturday, we knew that Yellowways coach always went from Middleton town centre to the football every week, either to City or United, so we decided to go.
We had to save up the bus fare (2p) and entry price (can’t remember) so it took us a couple of weeks. With enough money for 3 out of 5 of us, we all 5 set of to get the bus, we thought we would have enough as we had been told we could probably get under the turnstiles. Told our Mums we were going river jumping in Hopwood for the day.
Anyway, getting on the bus everybody had their blue and white scarves so we realized we would be going to watch City, it was a bit scary with all these big blokes singing and laughing and not really having a clue how far it was or how long it would take us to get there. We eventually did; got off the bus followed the crowd, queued up, mate Paul was accidentally head butted by a Police horse shaking its head, but he survived, then down the tunnel in to the Kippax stand the noise and excitement was tremendous, saw little of the game but had the best day of my life up til then.
Got home late my Dad went mad , more for going to City not United, I think, than being missing most of the day . Any way that was me a City fan for life, eventually a couple of years later , after various Saturday jobs got myself a season ticket, to away games and all the rest.
Problem being all through the last 30 plus years most people having been telling me “you got the wrong bus” and “should have waited a week and gone to United”. Through all the trials and tribulations though I would not have had it any other way though.
It’s taken all these years but now I have a new retort,” Who got the wrong fucking bus now then!!!!
