New CFG team

Anything more would mean selling a stake loosing identity etc

This way he can sell players and get expertise on coaching scouting etc

It's entirely possible that he's not offering any terms that CFG would want (such as selling a stake), sure. However, if he wants a deal like the Black Aces' old one, I can't see CFG being interested.

Bear in mind, also, that this is the man who created Ajax Cape Town back in 1999 by buying a club and then offering to Ajax the ability to name and brand it. I don't think identity is something he has an issue with losing, especially as all the indications seem to be that after feeling forced out at that club, he wants to do it all a second time to spite his former partners. Come to think of it, his agenda may be another reason CFG don't seem fussed.

Good points

I would have thought CFG would be interested in deals like the Black Aces old one as they have similar deals all over the place right

I'm honestly not sure what they gained from it though. Was it a way of getting hold of youth talents? I doubt it; I haven't heard of a single South African player joining us and with all respect the Black Aces were a bit of a stab in the dark if they wanted a source of talent. Was it about spreading our name? Sure I guess, but I can't see that we would've gained many fans or exposure from - with due respect - backwater club. Sure, the Black Aces would've had a couple of visits from academy coaches and benefited in a very small way from that, but other than that there seems to be essentially no net benefit to the deal.

Have we benefited from any of the similar deals does not look like it but we have them

I actually don't recall us making any similar deals to the type we signed with the Black Aces. Bear in mind that our deal with them wasn't like the stuff we have with NAC Breda or anyone else, but was just an "academy partnership". We've had clubs where we let them view our facilities to try to improve their coaching, and we do City Soccer Schools in various places, but I don't recall any other "academy partnerships".

Shenzhen mentioned again in City's press release regarding Pep's unveiling. It's a few times Shenzhen has been mentioned by the club. I expect it to be the next destination for a "City" club.

Wiki has us having three types of partnerships scouting training clubs work permit clubs and overseas academies of which black aces whee one so are right to dream not sure I can see the distinction between this and a trading scouting club if anything it suggest we get more say in an overseas academy they play how we do rather than learning off us and they spread our name guess they might give us less from a scouting help point of view but have we ever found anyone though these clubs everyone here always says we just buy the big things

I know it does - I added all of that information myself. There is a huge difference between the Black Aces link and RTD though. I've already talked about the Black Aces deal - there was very little interaction between both clubs and it felt almost more like a publicity stunt - but RTD and City are inextricably linked, and there is strong evidence to suggest that CFG actually own RTD and are simply not making it public. RTD have a similarly low interaction, but the difference is that they are one of the most highly-regarded African academies and we have a deal with them to cherrypick their four best graduates every year. The link has been going about 5-6 years now and there are almost two dozen former graduates floating around Europe now, either players we have sent out on loan or ones we have held for a few years before selling on. They are essentially a massive money-spinner for us - we may never play any of their players (although a couple of them have been decent and it's no certain bet one won't make it) but we get nice money from selling them after putting them in the shop window for a few years and even if each one only goes for a few hundred thousand, it's worth a million or two a year for very little cost to ourselves.

Not a bad choice if true.. Right next to Hong Kong and Shenzhen got 10 million people, loads of money and two really really crappy football teams, none of them play in the top divisiion.
