to put the train line in context ( i've been using it for over a decade ).
1) its a non electrified route so new train options are limited
2) its a norther rail route, they are shite. regularly not running due to no staff etc.
3) a lot of the trains on the route are Pacer trains ( old buses converted into trains, and are about 40 years out of date ), while some routes seem to be getting rid we seem to be getting more.
4) in the last 2 months alone there have been about 4/5 occasions where we havn't been able to get on trains for 3/4 train arrivals, where we are stood from 7.20am and not able to get on a train until nearly 9am.
5) last week a woman collapsed on the wife due to the heat on the train, people collapse quite regularly on them to be honest.
All in all there is zero scope for more people to get on these trains on this route. not without increasing the number of trains down the line, which just isn't gonna happen, from the 2030 plans for the trams id guess this line is going to be converted to a tram line at some point.
Id go as far as saying adding even a few hundred extra commuters on that line in spread out over a couple of hours in the morning / evening and its going to collapse. or at least any station after urmston is just pointless.
