New developments in Manchester city centre

Found a youtube video earlier, thought I'd share it here. I remembered there's a few members with an interest in the skyline development of the city, who might appreciate the views he captured:

What are those circular led objects at the end of the video btw? I don't remember seeing those before.

A lot of chatter this week and negative reactions to this planning application next to the Brittons

A step too far in these joyless glass developments or just modernisation that is more than welcome

Personally I love it, and I love the Britons Protection. Hopefully it'll bring more trade, which is what the Brit desperately needs.

I appreciate some find the encroachment of the new on the old jarring.

What do You think?

I'm going to have a look at it a bit more. The obvious thing here seems to be the scale.

Unfortunately they will get their way & within months the BP gone imo

I think, though the building may be necessary the location is not right and the Brittons will suffer from it.

Heineken and the brewery group are already theatening it's future with it's ridiculous supplier list, I worry it eventually end up closing, as I doubt those who buy the flats will drink in it much.

That would be a tragedy. It's a great pub with quality beer. I think the threat to the BP is more to do with what beers it's allowed to sell by the Pub company than it's existence. But I remember Tommy Ducks !

not just the beers, finest collection of whiskys in manchester, if Heinekin take it back under their full control then it will lose most of those too
