Unfortunately, none of those is even half the player of Vincent.I must be missing something. Mangala, stones, ottamendi and tosin seems like cover to me.

yes you are missing something. Watch Guardiola's press conference. He says repeatedly he wanted a central defender but the club could not do the deal. He also says that we will help Mangala to improve. I forget his exact words but they did not give the impression that he is comfortable with the playerI must be missing something. Unfortunately, none of those is even half the player of Vincent in his prime.

What do you think? Most of the footballing world is bemused by the decision and Guardiola spent a lot of time answering direct questions on the matter. Are the two paragraphs meant to be related to each other?

I've said my piece for which I am grateful for. Apologies if it annoys mods / your good self. On to the match now. Hope we enjoy itI watched it. We will be fine. Ottamendi and Stones are good. Stop flapping!
I'm not sure that Vinny has been half the player of Vinny during the opening games. He looks to have lost quite a bit of pace.
I think you're right. Notably he's been booked 7 times in his recent 12 game run and I think pretty much every one of them was for cynically bringing down forwards who had the legs of him
I've already watched the full press conference. What do you think? Most of the footballing world is bemused by the decision and Guardiola spent a lot of time answering direct questions on the matter.
You can see him field those questions here. You tell me if you're convinced by his answers https://www.mancity.com/citytv/inte...ool-pep-guardiola-gabriel-jesus-sergio-aguero
And neither is JFE.Unfortunately, none of those is even half the player of Vincent.
We have a resurgent Otamendi who has shown a lot of ability playing alongside a fit Kompany (with Kompany gone, paired with a less gifted CB Otters may well revert to reckless form) and two other defenders who cannot even manage to start for their country's sides.I've already watched the full press conference.
We have three senior centre backs fit and at a combined cost of over £120m, if we can't deal with that over the season and JFE was the solution then we don't deserve anything.
To be fair, there are many occasions we are exposed if he doesn't bring them down, it isn't hard to go by a defender when you've got about 40 yards of space in front of you. I do agree Kompany is past his peak due to the many injuries he has had but he's still best CB we have and by far the most commanding one which I feel was the point of the very original comment.
i told you so. for several years, Kompany missed most of the season with injury. he's aging and i can't see his injury records will get any better. our inability to find his replacement during the summer will cost City this year. any combination between Otamendi, Stones and Mangala is a disaster waiting to happen.
hopefully, Ederson will show his miracle.
Don't underestimate the effect our new full backs will have. If used properly, they'll push Liverpool's wide players back and take a lot of pressure off the defence. Providing Dinho does a decent job in front of them, there's no reason why any combination of our centre backs can't be at least as good as Alderweireld/Vertonghen for Spurs.i told you so. for several years, Kompany missed most of the season with injury. he's aging and i can't see his injury records will get any better. our inability to find his replacement during the summer will cost City this year. any combination between Otamendi, Stones and Mangala is a disaster waiting to happen.
