New Music 2025

right then

this is where i say my usual shit about...
how can you call this new music?
they are old, established bands releasing more material,
there's nothing new about them.
new music should mean unestablished bands breaking through.

then i post a load of songs by bands that nobody's heard of,
say they are worth looking out for this year,
and then get accused of spamming the thread.

i will defend myself,
saying they are songs by bands who should do well this year.

along will come coaty
and admonish me for not writing an essay about each one.
others will agree.
i will throw my toys out of the pram and leave the thread.

people will ask me to stay and i will say no,
keep your stupid narrow-minded thread,
or something along those lines.

so let's get it all out of the way in one go.

the following songs are by bands that are worth watching out for in 2025...
Not all : )

Fuck me you are so sensitive you utter melt ;). Welcome back ffs.

Revisionism however, as nobody came 'at' you, you kicked off and went away on your own account. And I for one did miss your input.

Re new music, really could not be any more self explanatory. any music released in '25, is by default, new. If not a re-release. It is not a new bands thread, it is all music.

Re spamming the thread, again your own interpretation. All I asked of people was if they have to post youtube links, to write out the name of the artist as well. I find endless nameless youtube previews tedious and offputing. Some agree some disagree, but it is hardly too much to ask.

Anyway, thanks for the contributions, look forward to flicking through them.

You’re just describing new bands and artists, not new music.

New music is new music.

Doves are bringing out a new album in February. Their new album will be newer when it comes out than a new band’s debut album that comes out tomorrow.

this ^^^ was what i was on about happening

i wasn't being serious, you tit :)

enjoy the music

24 was great for me gig wise. Managed 16 which is a record for me.

Jake Bugg
Echo and Bunnymen
Newton Festival (Ks and Lottery Winners)
Take That (with the missus)
Taylor Swift (with daughter)
James
Libertines
Lightning Seeds
Peter Hook and the light
Sam Fender
Paul McCartney
Paul Heaton
Shed Seven
Starsailor
Noel Gallagher
Liam Gallagher

Only one booked so far for this year. Neighbourhood weekender Saturday which features James, OCS, Reytons, Ks and Lottery Winners amongst others.

Sure there will be more to come but don’t think it will be anywhere near as busy (and expensive) as last year.

The Cure new album was a highlight of the year from a new album perspective.

Looking forward to the release of The K’s second album and the Lottery Winners new one. Franz Ferdinand new album out today and the Manics have one this year too.

To be fair to @calumdown I probably did accuse him of spamming the new music thread last year, or words to that effect anyway. And then he did behave like a melt.

But, new year and all that... I suspect that there will be something in what he has posted today that I will like although my money would be on the one he says isn't his cup of tea.

I posted last year that the easiest way for me to listen to all the tracks posted on this thread would be to put them into a playlist to listen to in the car (currently stranded at the bottom of our road until the great thaw arrives) or while I'm doping some chores. I even went as far as putting a couple together and posting them on the thread until I lost track, or whatever. I resolve this year to do the same, at least until I lose interest and will try and post a round up at the end of each month. In the spirit of musical bonhomie though my next post should be the first playlist of the year which will be everything calumdown has posted this year.

To add to the "new music" discussion of course it shouldn't be restricted to new bands. That would be a new bands thread. Now there's an idea.

But even established bands can evolve and change style, as suggested by @Out on blue 6 re bdrmm, a band who I will look forward to hearing their new album although I might be disappointed if it's more dancy than shoegazing. Although even shoegazers can shuffle their feet.
