I highly doubt he'd take such a job when you consider the other positions he is being linked with.

However, there is no harm in asking and if it did happen it would be great for us.

I like Martinez , i think he talks a lot of sense , and is very personable ...... but this just won't happen , his managerial reputation is growing , if he remains in this country he's Everton bound ..... he won't become anybodys number two , wherever he goes!
+1here lads

As a number two I would be over the moon.

As a manager though he still has so much to learn, he is great at creating wonderful attacking football but neglects his defense, and its his defensive management that have cost Wigan relegation in my opinion.

Plus, the only reason Martinez would take the number two role is if he was guaranteed the managers post when Pellegrini's contract runs out, but I thought we might be doing that with Paddy?

Anybody think he will go back to Wigan if Everton choose someone else?

I can see the logic of him being number 2 but pellers will have his own and who he knows and is comfy with.Is martinez not a candidate for the malaga job if he doesnt get everton?

brian kidd should get first dabs on the number 2 job then if he turns it down the new manager should bring is own choice

I think Martinez is a bright and ambitious manager that needs a bigger challenge. Does he go to Everton, managing a team with a small transfer budget, aspiring to qualify for Euro Disney league and perhaps get to the odd semi in the domestic cups?

Or does he take a step backwards for two years or so, to then come forward big time to succeed Pellegrini, managing a club that can afford and attract the worlds best players in front of a potential 60 000 supporters. A club that has owners with real vision to build the worlds best footballing academy to produce our own world class players..

Hmm, I know what I would, do and I won't be surprised if Martinez becomes Pellegrini's right hand man for a chance to manage a club with ambition, or does he go to a club with low ambitions and realistic expectations. A club that just throws toffees at thieving scouse scallies! ; )

Yes , he'll most likely have limited resources at Everton , but i should imagine they are a better prospect than Wigan in that aspect , even though Whelan's there ....... Evertons record signing cost twice as much as the money Wigan paid for theirs.

Everton have seen some great times in the past , and Martinez may well fancy the challenge of bringing times like that back to Goodison again ..... and he'd be his own man there.

Martinez's 'stock' has grown as a result of Wigans cup success , and if he came here i'm none too sure he'd fancy working as a number two/or 'translator' ...... it's difficult to see it happening in my opinion ........ and , as far as i'm aware , Brian Kidds future hasn't been decided as of yet.

I suppose one thing the 'indecision' of the City hierarchy is doing it is giving us all something to talk about even if it is all a load of codswallop because why would Martinez even want to come as a number 2 when he has clubs all over the place wanting him.

For goodness sake City make a decision it's like waiting for Godot all this!!

To be honest , the city number two job has to be more inviting then the Everton Job . No money to spend and the main part of your job is gettin players to stay . At city he can have some pressure taken off at a club that is playing at the top of world football with the best players in the world. Could poss lead to a managers job .
