New official City website

in my humble opinion i am very impressed by the way the club is moving forward not just on the pitch but off it aswell. the new sponsorship deals and the ground being redone and now this website. we are going places.

if mcfctv.com is being scrapped and the content being made available on the main website, why am I still being emailed asking for me to renew my subscription??

Sounds like another bit of class being shown by the club...

This is what used to really get me back in the 80's-90's... We were so shoddily run it wasn't even funny! I mean Peter Swales and then Franny Lee!? It was like an episode of Phoenix fuckin' Nights! When you compared Maine Road to other grounds it was almost heartbreaking!

Well how times have changed eh? Seems like our owners and manager know that success is built from the ground up and they really do mean, long-term business.

This is how the Arabs differentiate from The Glazers et al, because it's not just about making money, it's about using it to build more success and reputation, which they are doing perfectly, so far!

Fantastic news!

There is a question which you may or not know but will this website be free for everyone or just the people in the United Kingdom because if it's free for the whole world isn't it a bit stupid allowing everyone to watch live matches or following highlights of Manchester City (No offence to the Foreign Manchester City supporters).

Actually, I would argue there's a lot more value in this for foreign supporters than Uk-based. There's matches that are very difficult to see over here - sometimes impossible - and it's not like they stick MCFC highlights on the sports news between baseball, basketball, pointyball and hockey. I would imagine this is part of their strategy for going global.

So is it taking over <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.mcfc.co.uk</a> ????
Or is it a different web address, and if it is, what is it called?

It's just replacing <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.mcfc.co.uk</a>

Lot of integration with existing fans sites like Bluemoon too - prominent link on their site, and a bit on the homepage where there is a link to pertinent discussions going on on the forms (at the demo it was a post someone on here had made about taking Wednesday off work, can't remember who it was though).

Hope you don't ask for a payrise or bugger off to Chelsea ;)

Ric do you know if they will be improving the youth and reserves part of the website? Its pretty shambolic at the minute.

Just got back from the preview of the new site at Eastlands, and it's very impressive. It pisses all over the previous site (which goes without saying, as the old one was rubbish) and is much, much better than any other team's site.

Where to start. There's a lot of quality video content on there - MCFCTV.com is being scrapped and all the content you get on there will be available on the new site, free of charge. All advertising has been removed (apart from the logos of official sponsors Umbro and Etihad) giving it a much cleaner feel.

The most impressive feature though will be the match day section. Obviously they are unable to show live footage (although they are planning to stream the first South Africa friendly free), but match highlights will be made available the day after games. What impressed most about this section was the live stats you will get during the game. Powered by Opta you'll be able to see a plethora of live data about possession and all that malarky. Also live text commentary - similar to the BBC one, but obviously concentrating solely on our game.

The online shop and ticketing system weren't live at the preview, but apparently they are going to be excellent.

There was a real emphasis on how the new site complements the fan sites rather than rivalling them, and they're making most of their content available to us to use which is nice

There's loads of other stuff which I can't remember, but fair play to the club. They've got it right again. The site goes live at 5am Wednesday morning, everyone in the UK should be able to access it by 6am when the domain has propagated. The shop goes live at 9am for people to pre-order shirts and try to bag one of the free Doves tickets.

Ric

Who launched the site were the execs there?

Did you grab a comment from GC regarding Eto'o?

Will test the website first thing Wednesday sounds great
