It seems to show a disenchantment with the body politic as a whole. Less than one in five felt compelled to vote. It's pretty damning.

They have made it more difficult to vote for many though, now requiring photo ID to vote.

Making it more difficult to vote in a country that has never had a problem with large scale voter fraud was another genius tory idea in that they thought it would benefit them but the opposite happened.

2 of their over 900 staff were invited onto a single video meeting where BCG and their partners discussed the plan, were put in email chains/group chats.

No one has claimed they had any part of contributing or authoring the plan, at worst they might have been aware of it before it was published. At one point one of the 2 wrote an internal document summarising the BCG and other proposals.

The only reason it's a news story at all is because Blair's name in a headline is all it takes for the likes of @Don Karleone to be frothing at the mouth again. If you read the FT article it makes all of this clear, but they headlined it to get the reaction they wanted, and it worked.

Short of building a processing centre in France, which I believe the French are happy with, I don’t see an alternative?

We’ll never do it. We like to see those on boats as ‘illegal’ so they are useful in that way. If they all had legit papers who would we blame then? The French, probably….

Certain elements of our population have made it a priority, all the while they syphon off more and more wealth.

Note this morning, John Healey on Sky News talking about Defence, only for the anchor to come out with some sort of gobbledegook and turn into small boats and ‘blame the French’.

It’s no longer about reporting fact, it’s all about influencing and continuing a narrative of division and hate.

Is it? Corbyn and Sultana are both smart enough to know that Labour and the Tories are the only parties who can win a majority in the UK.

So if they’re setting up a new left wing party, it’s not because they have notions of power, it’s to try and become a left wing alternative to reform, move the Overton window back left and exert the kind of policy pressure on Labour that reform did to the last Tory government.

They might be able to do that although it’s not got off to a good start.

Since the boats are run by trafficking gangs, I approve of the French police slitting them near the shore. We need to put the gangs out of business.

44000 arrived here since Starmer became PM.

Now we get one in, one out with no numbers given. It won’t reduce, it won’t stop the boats, the promise to smash the gangs was meaningless claptrap.

Exactly.

A lot of the new MPs are raging. Starmer offered change and not a continuation of Tory policies. They have taken it personally and pushing back now.
