NEW Old Labour Party Launch

If anyone has family or a legal right to stay what’s the problem?

You do know the boat people are about 5% of total migration every year ?

Not sure why this discussion is in this thread given there is an actual Labour thread where this belongs

Some "interesting" polling by YouGov. Obviously hypothetical polling is generally nonsense, but it doesn't suggest the country is desperately waiting for this new party.

From a standing start without any details. I'd say that's pretty good.

It isnt about becoming an electable force imo, at least not yet.

It’s about reclaiming the PLP back from the red tories who are busy disgracing the name of the Labour Party and frankly outdoing much of what most would be in uproar about if it was the Tories doing it.

They will do for Starmer and Reeves fairly quickly I feel which is a start. Don’t forget another group of MPs signed up to a group last night asking “why has the Labour Party not made me better off”.

The electorate doesn’t like what’s happening and the PLP will get rid of them both because of it.

I hope that one day we'll have a Government like what JC was offering. I know we disagree on that, but at least you're not a **** about it.

I'm not that old, yet it probably won't be in my lifetime. I hope you're right in the short term regarding the right wing of the Labour Party.

We do differ on many things mate but you’re principled and that I can totally respect.

He's one of the most well known politicians in the country though. It would be similar to saying "would you vote for a Farage led party" when he was between grifts. And 'without any details' is probably the time when hypothetical parties do best :)

As I said, hypotheticals are generally not worth much, but 6% saying a Corbyn party would be their first choice is pretty low. There was polling better than that for Change UK.

I suspect the Greens will be happy with the graphs though - although yet again they'll be wondering why they still don't get the media recognition they deserve.

The Corbyn thing was really bad luck for the proper socialists in the Labour Party, he was supposed to be a patsy to placate the left in the leadership battle. He only goes on and wins it. He almost won the general election and if it wasn't for a few skeletons and some unpopular people around him he could have won it.
Someone with less baggage and we would have had an actual socialist Labour govt.
Instead he went, Starmer the deceiver lied to the members, his own MPs and the country.
Labour ended up with a Torry wet in charge and so did the country. 80% of the country didn't even vote for the boring fake.

And here we are.

Today's poll shows Labour tied with Corbyn. It's a well respected polling company. So what's the implications?
Well, Corbyn could just be benefiting from some airtime given to his cause. (He hasn't named the party, done an interview about it, had any airtime at all and outside of the youtube alternative media space, had any coverage, other than the bog standard derogatory and slanderous BS we now know was such an effective, organised tactic.

It could just be the disaffected "flees" the Labour party politburo was so keen to "shake off". The numbers would suggest the appeal is broader than a few trots and commies. Almost as if the people at large have become aware the 'Single Transferable Party' is representing something or someone else, and many who would never dream of voting for Reform PLC require another vehicle to give the establishment the middle finger. Also maybe the people who could possibly become Reform PLC fodder out of disillusionment and Farrages knack at persuading the gullable a party run by ex private school boys, city's spivs and toffs, is somehow 'anti establishment' ACTUALLY feel the same 'protest' would be better done in a party that wants to keep the NHS and Social care and isn't beholden to the war machine.

Maybe this is the deathnail for Labour? The Labour Party had only one attraction in the election.... they weren't the other pricks. The next few years will be spent saying "a vote for Corbyn, (the guy who was SO insignificant they could afford to defenestrate him in the most brutal way without any pushback)... is a vote for Reform PLC. This will be their only line moving forward. There may be traditional political common sense in this sentiment, however... if things carry on the way they are going, if the economy crashes, if war breaks out with Russia, if Labours support of THE CRIME continues... then maybe the idea of a vote for LABOUR, actually being a vote for REFORM PLC .. may well be more accurate.

Interesting times. I don't know how they will run this party, all I would say is, initial priorities...
Get union backing,
Get mass membership
Get a ground game
Get an effective media game
Utilise ALL the talents on the Left (even traditional enemies)
Assemble (via crowd fund) a Fkin mahoosive legal fund... The same characters WILL come for them and this time, gloves off, take some houses off some mouthy pricks. Make a start with the dolly bird from countdown who can't not open her dense mouth and that gash actress who tried her crap with that Doctor Philip Proudfoot guy and got her fat arse dragged through the courts.

According to reports and not sure if true but Starmer is giving the French another 400m towards stopping the boats. They seem to have money for everyone apart from people in this country
Isn’t stopping the boats what millions of people on this country want? And like it or not, to achieve that is going to cost money.

By the way, £400 million might be a lot of money to you and me but it pales into insignificance compared to what the water companies have cost the country.

It won’t pan out.

For every one we send back, France are sending us one.

It’s pathetic.
Wasn’t that the same with the Rwanda plan? We were going to take some of theirs in return. Not sure I ever saw you calling that pathetic but happy to be proven wrong if you can point me to a post of yours where you said it.

I’m concerned about illegal migration and feel the government of the day should do far more to protect our borders from those with no rightful claim or genuine need to be here but the Rwanda policy is utterly horrific and should be binned.

I sincerely hope we never see a single aircraft take off in fact we won’t see any do so before the GE.

The incoming Labour government should obviously scrap and distance itself but at the same time, come up with a workable plan to tackle the issue.
