New Turnstiles v Tottenham Hotspur Tomorrow

I phoned Supporter Services to ask if I could collect a plastic seasoncard. They said that they were collating information at the moment and would be discussing how to proceed. Once they had done that, they said they would email me by the next home game. They were so nice, I just said yes. As long as I have a solution before the next home game, that's the main thing.
Anybody got a picture of the new readers, I was so intent on getting in that I neglected to take one.

The ‘tap’ side looks like when I pay at the supermarket. That was the side that worked for me.

Is the sort of oblongy bit at the top the camera then? It wouldn’t be able to take my face as I had my head down figuring out what I was doing and being misled by a steward. *lol*

Next time stick your tongue out, I'd ask you to stick two fingers up and shout "F&*K You" but I am a gentleman and wouldn't ask you to lower yourself to my standard :)

Plus you know I wouldn’t be able to do it!

We had a bit of a family reunion this weekend and my (younger) sister swore and one of my brothers said Dad will be after you. She said she was sure she felt his hand tapping her round the ear! ;-)

The scale of the technical mess on Saturday was clearly not anticipated. Gate staff weren't briefed or empowered to over-ride the gate (I asked them). The portacabin of support staff was under resourced.

The club's response then and since just underlines the apathy they have towards us.

Have they put anything out publicly other than a single tweet, or have I missed it?

An email should have gone out on Saturday night to all season ticket holders with an apology to all those affected and assurances that they will strive to resolve the issues for future matches. Its such a small thing that would go a long way to placate understandably upset supporters, and they couldn't even get that right.

I genuinely thought they'd have issued an apology by now. Like you say, supporters are upset and they don't seem to care. I know it's different but it reminds me of Istanbul.

My Dad contacted the club as soon as the tickets were released with no QR code attached as per prior seasons as his phone has no nfc , waited weeks for a response to be told don't worry just go to the person in the grey coat on the day and they will help you . On the day of the match he did as instructed and to nobody's surprise they couldn't help him and he had to go to the ticket office to be quizzed by the giscapo, have his phone taken off him for them to check he wasn't just incompetent at using it and then reluctantly be issued with a paper ticket for entrance, he missed the start off the game. He has been assured they will contact him prior to the Derby with how he can get in for that game but now nearly a week after has heard nothing. How can he be in this position when he gave the club weeks notice their new style of ticket wouldn't allow him entrance?, fucking shit show and no doubt he will be at the ticket office prior to the Derby kick off again.

That is almost exactly my experience for the Spurs match last weekend. It's a complete shitshow and just the same as your Dad, I've not heard a thing from the club since then.
The only saving grace for me is that I'm away on holiday for the last 2 weeks of September, so I have transferred my ticket to my brother for the United game and listed my ticket on the exchange for the Burnley game.

My mobile works for NFC based transactions elsewhere but it has never worked consistently at City. I did eventually get my phone to work on the turnstile at the Spurs game but that was after queuing for over an hour at a portacabin.

I phoned City on Wednesday and they asked for my phone model model and they said that they knew there had been problems and that they were reviewing it. They promised to get back to me in time for the next home game. I think they might either add back the barcode, or offer a plastic card. Either would be OK with me.

My wife's phone can be renewed at no cost,as it was 2 years old last April.
So we are going to renew hers when we get back from holiday.
And replace it with one that has NFC , and I will take it to the match with me, and leave my phone at home with her.

Would be great if we get to a position where either of those 2 options are given, what's not so great is the club were given notice by multiple fans who don't have nfc that they won't be able to get in the ground when the new season tickets were released with no QR code, if they sort this for the Derby it will have taken them nearly 2 months to rectify a situation they were given weeks prior notice about and resulted in thousands of fans being stuck outside the stadium for the first home game.

It's a shit show. They are missing a trick because I think if they offered plastic cards at say £10 a card, many fans would happily pay that for a card season ticket. I know they wont because they want your ticket back and want to control it etc but could be an easy income if they applied it.
