New TV advice

Only 2 HDMI slots wouldn't work for me.
It has 4 HDMI slots.
The old adage

"Buy cheap, buy twice"
Never heard of TCL , so just googled them,...."budget"...

If you're intent on buying a TCL, make sure you get from Richer Sounds, even if it means you waiting a while, due to soick levels. When it breaks, you'll get some kind of redress with your warranty.
I hadn't heard of them until recently and when i read up was surprised that they are the world's 2nd biggest TV manufacturer behind Samsung but offer far better bang for buck. Ideally I'd buy from Richer sounds as they offer a 6 year guarantee but I'm waiting a little longer before seeing if there's any discount in the January sales.

Apologies, I only saw 2 x "full spec" in the review.

I'm thinking of buying a TCL C7K 55" telly as they seem like really good value for the level of specs. Just rang Richer Sounds and they've sold out so they must be decent. Telesales guy praised them highly but any of you own a TCL TV and are you happy with it?

I'm particularly interested in what our resident TV expert @Two Gun Bob has to say...
By no means an expert and more the passing enthusiast. We acquired our current set a TCL 75" C855k in early 25. The reason we erred toward the TCL brand was due to our Samsung 75 inch flagship QLED biting the dust after 63 months of clocking up 22,000 hours. It should have given a lot more for the price point paid, but it is what it is.

Thankfully as ever we bought through Richer sounds who's 5 star service flawlessly kicked into action ensuring we were not without a TV for too long.

As Mr heel previously mentioned their guarantee is new for old but reduction on a decreasing scale is factored in, not dissimilar to CRA section 24(8) which allows for reduction for the time of a TV's satisfactory use. No argument there and as our 3k Sammy was beyond economical repair we were awarded £1300 toward another set.

The reviews of the TCL 75 C855k were sweet enough and came with an "AV Forum Recommend" so we bought it for £1500 with another free 6 years piece of mind warranty.

If the TCL lasts 6 years then we will have secured 11 years 3 months of happy ownership for £3200 or 77 pence a day.

So how have we found the C855k during its 10 month probation? It's performed its ablusions admirably and at the price point paid for a 75inch QD Mini Led we are more than content. Are their better TV's out there? Yes of course there are but we were hamstrung by an unexpected Samsung failure and had to act more fiscally than we would have otherwise liked.

Current price with Richer is £1299

I'm sure you could buy a guarantee.
What you get with amazon is no quibble returns that works a treat.
I love richer but the 6 year guarantee only covers the full cost for 12 months.
Well Richer footed the whole cost of a new motherboard on my 2 year old LG OLED which had an intermittent fault. All done quickly and efficiently within a week of me reporting it.

The law is
  • 6 Months – 6 Years Old: The tables turn. You must prove it is a manufacturing fault, not just wear and tear.
How do I prove it? You might need an independent report. Take the item to a local repair shop and ask for a written report (costing maybe £20-£30)

But you don’t have to faff around with any of that with Richersounds.
And they go above and beyond consumer law.
As their policy states

“Although as a retailer we are allowed to make a deduction towards wear and tear on a faulty product which is over 6 months old, we will actually give customers the full amount back up to 12 months if we can’t repair it. On irreparable faulty products over 12 months old, we will also take much smaller deduction from the original purchase price than is recommended (see our voucher usage scale)…”

Amazon are not doing anything special. The no quibble return policy applies to all on line sales including Richersounds.

I'm sleeping on a soundbar. Never had one. They look expensive does it really make that much difference?
I use a Bose 900. No need for a sub woofer as Mrs doesn't like heavy bass.It does everything I want as we use it for music too. Buy from Bose and you 90 days to return. They do refurbs for about £600 so £300 off. If you don't like it send it back within the 90 days.

Bought a new TV just before Xmas as we've just had an extension. I went for the Samsung S95F over the LG G5 (I have a G3 in the living room) purely for it's anti glare technology as we have spots plus lots of natural light in the room.

It's mad that no matter what the lighting, you cannot see any glare at all on the screen. Very happy with it.

Absolutely makes a huge difference but you have to feed it with a good source (Dolby Atmos/5.1 surround) to get the full benefit.

I think the Samsung soundbars offer the best value for money to quality ratio with the discount codes and/or cashback deals often posted on HUKD.
