New v Old supporters

Because it concedes ground to the rags. It's the stick we've been beating them with for years, but we all know well that people from outside Mcr support the blues and have done for years and years. There are people on here from NZ, SA, USA and even the Himalayas. Last home game I went to against Leicester, there was a guy infront of us in a city kit who was shouting louder than anyone with a strong Brummie accent.

These older fans you speak of are stuck in the 1990's. They need to move on because they have missed the boat. Our club is reaching out to communities in Seirra Leonne, New York...Belfast. This is happening, and some Nesbit from Longsight aint gonna change a damn thing, so deal with it and shurrup.

i just hate the fact i might sit near these fickle wankers in the future.

but for the future of the club and where we are going, i think we have to welcome these new fans.... all be it with gritted teeth.

Don't worry mate, there will always be an area in COMS where you can be amongst the die hards. 109 to an extent/110/111 and the SS will always be where the loons are :-)

Just move in here A.S.A.P to escape the tourist trap which will more than likely be 101 where i did sit before it became the free student ticket block.

No offence against students before the keyboard warrior brigade break the thread door down, i just like to say hello to familiar faces every week and there is generally more atmosphere in these areas.

to be honest, i get a little bit annoyed people have started following us now we are more established in the league.

although i was there week in week out when pearce was in charge, and the stadium had many empty seats, and the majority people not turning up were local... i just hate the fact i might sit near these fickle wankers in the future.

I appreciate the honestly, hahaha.

People can support who they want. I have no issue with that.

But someone who comes to a club and has only ever known (relative) success can never feel the same extremes of emotion as someone who has endured shite while your rivals and neighbours rub it in as they win everything under the sun. It's just not possible.

Rags of my age have known nothing but winning. They don't get excited in anywhere near the same way I do about City. They pretty much shrugged off a their recent League Cup wins saying it's not really all that important. Imagine if we'd won the league cup at any point over the last couple of decades. We'd have been absolutely ecstatic.

That's what someone coming to City now couldn't really understand. And in some ways I feel sorry for them. It just won't be as good for them when it finally comes.

Hmm... I stood in 110 the other week just behind a cockney sounding lad who did nothing but sing for 90mins, cheering on the team....

It ain't where you're from... it's where you're at.

Have to agree, some real snobbery on here. Blues should be made to feel welcome no matter where they come from. I went to my first game in 69 so I am old skool as the OP puts it, but there is nothng beter than seeing that sky blue shirt when you're half way round the world far from home no matter the accent of the wearer. And before I get slagged off again for living in Accrington, I am a manc born in M11, then moved to Moston, I only live here in Accy.

ian brown.... i like your style.

but im not arsed if they are cockney, just not soo keen on these band wagon jumpers.

it doesnt seem like the city i grew up with ( the 90's).

id rather stand with 20.000 true city fans, then 80.000 plastics.

I think the opposite.
To me it's the new young fans that are fanatics , the diehards if you like, we oldies have been there done that.
I love my club but as you get older you have other priorities, it's no longer the be all and end all of my waking day, used to be but just not at that manic level these days.
They are in my heart and in my blood but it's time to let the next generation have the baton and so it goes on.
