disappearing white / ? where did you get that from?

From our supposed shirt for next season, in the "2013/14 kit" thread, and for that matter our current shirt. All the white trim on the colours and sponsor logo has gone, replaced by dark blue:

Is anyone else slightly confused by the way the image above which explains the various aspects of the badge claims that the colours of MCFC are sky and navy blue, not sky blue and white? Perhaps it explains why all the white is disappearing from our shirts?

Navy blue has been part of our kits since the 1800's. I'd say in recent years it's the navy blue that has disappeared in favour of white. We've had navy blue socks for over 80 years of our existence, and yet we've now adopted white. Strange decision for me as there are many teams with sky blue shirts, white shorts and white socks Napoli, Celta Vigo, Coventry, Lazio.

Yet sky blue shirts, white shorts and navy blue socks I have only ever seen worn by Manchester City. I don't know why the powers that be have decided to make us like all of those other teams instead of keeping our own unique identity.

I'm aware of that. I've contributed images to that website before. But the fact of the matter is that if you asked any City fan "what are City's colours" they would reply "Sky blue and white". I googled "Sky blue and white" and a City link was the third response but we weren't anywhere at all if you replace "white" with "navy blue". We have never worn the two shades of blue without white featuring prominently, but we have used white with both colours on their own. If they were going to say that navy blue was one of City's colours, they should have labelled up white and said that all three are our colours, because white features on that badge, and it features prominently.

Of course I wasn't trying to suggest that white isn't one of our colours, it clearly is. All City kits should have white shorts in my opinion.

My point about navy blue however, is that far from it "taking over" from white in recent times, I'd say the reverse is true. We haven't worn solid navy blue socks since 2001, which is one of the longest periods in our history. Bring back the navy blue socks! :-)

Round badge..our 2015 kit,looks shit to me....that's not our colours,FFS....!

Round badge for sure, one of these days I hope that we get our old "retro" badge on our 3rd kits or something. Similar to what Roma did when their home had the new badge but the away had the classic Wolf's Head logo.

The round badge is lovely.

No doubt the badge sellers at the Etihad will have some on saturday :)

We can't, we don't own the trademark for its use. Legally, City aren't allowed to reproduce the image.

Apart from the badge they launch their webshop as well.. <a class="postlink" href="http://shop.nycfc.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://shop.nycfc.com/</a>

If that's true then the rumours of a kit launch might just be possible. I still think that it's very early for NYCFC to be launching a kit though.

first off they're trying to cater to an american audience. i dont understand the use of 'football' club - no says football here. its all soccer. stating the obvious i know. just seems like they're saying football club to balance the crest. oh and thats another thing. they wouldn't say badge. they'd say crest. i've lived here for 8 years now so i've fully converted to idiot.

I was confused as to why Adidas would do our kits - but then just found online that Adidas have the contract for all teams in the league - so incase anyone else wondered that's why....

It might be a NY thing..?

The National Association Football League was a semi-professional U.S. soccer league which operated between 1895 and 1898. The league was reconstituted in 1906 and continued to operate until 1921. It drew its teams primarily from northern New Jersey and New York City

I could see our badge changing too in future. Perhaps if we were to win the Champions League there would be a discussion about changing the three stars above the current badge. If we were to change that it would give an opportunity to create something a little less elaborate (which is easier to replicate onto merchandise). Otherwise I think we'll be having this shield around the badge on our shirts for a while.
