New York City

that's very good advice in my opinion... ehehe and if you're heading off to Little Italy and fancy a meal there I know Maria (an old friend) who if you mention my name will surely take great care of you in her restaurant. (Her ex was connected, and also has one, the other of course he gave to her in settlement)

* Also, forgot to mention that if you were going to want to take in Vegas, you'd likely get a much better deal buying tickets (maybe very cheaply for a few hundred dollars) out of NY and scoring a comped room by buying them when over here - and not at ridiculous 'out of country' rates sold to tourists who don't know any better and who are also price takers; so if you really felt like it you might jet off for a few days out west and maybe hit up the Grand Canyon whilst doing so. Anyway, that's just an idea to save you some money and retain some flexibility in your schedule. If you're anywhere near me I won't have to bill you for the above advice if you fancy buying the beers for me to toast you and the Mrs with ;o)

By the way NYC is a great place to visit but not as good as Chicago!!!

That, my dear, is absolute scrilege!

got married in vegas and have been a couple of times, great place even for couples, also been to new york which is also great, never felt so safe in a big city(drink prices will kill you though barmen should drive round in bentley's), i would get married in vegas spend 3 days there and then on to new york for another five days

About the drink prices, if you go to a "flash" place or a club then you will pay thru the nose. get to a neighborhhod bar/pub. At least we dont have "measures" here. thats got to be the dumbest thing ever! The bartender will make you a nice, stiff drink probably equal to a double compared to the dopey measures system. When my Mom went to England, and she is by now means a drinker, always asked te baman if he forgot the vodka!!!!

We also have a thing called the "buyback" where your friendly bartender (in search of a generous tip) will comp you the 3rd or 4th round!!!! never had that happen in my vast experiences of pubs in England!!!!

I have been several times and my Mrs is American. Its a great place and as safe as the UK in downtown manhattan all the way up to 120th street or so. If you arent bothered about fancy touchces but want a decent self contained apartment room with a kitchen, some peace and quet and central location then I recommend the Eastgate Tower Suites which is only 5 mins from the Chrysler Building and 10 mins from Grand Central. There are some great bars and resturants nearby - try Dukes Diner - a fantastic place and good value. If youwant cheap theatre tickets then TKTS Time Square does half price tickets. The Staten Island Ferry is cheap and so is walking central park (the view across the City from the top end of the reservoir is amazing). The whole area south of washington square round greenwich village nad Soho is amazing as is the area round the Battery and up to pier 17 where you can also get boat trips. Little Italy wel worth a visit. If you want something really romantic and spectactular get a drink in the revolving rooftop bar at the Marriott (Times Square and 47th) and you can see the whole skyline as you have a beer.

Was just going to give The Hatter a mention!!! Was there the other day when we played v Golum's boys UGH!!! It was a midweek match and there were about 15 of us in. We have grown by leaps and bounds. Our fearless leader aka Jonesey wasnt in as he is most times. The trip to meet him might be worth it!!!!

Keep in mind New York has a chronic shortage of hotels so it wont be cheap. On the flip side, there are deals galore in Vegas! lots of entertainment in Vegas but lots in New York as well-some of it FREE!! It starts getting cold here in november but it wont be warm in Vegas either. If you come to NY in late November, then thats around Thanksgiving. Its a nice holiday and signals the start of the Christmas season. Walking down 5th Ave when its all decked out in Chrimbo decorations is magical!!!!

Also the flight to Vegas will be about 4 hours longer as well. Its also three more time zones away from New York!!!

If you do come to NY-stop off at The Hatter for a match!!!
hey frank do you know my cousin Neil "nelly" Boyle lives in NYC with his irish lovely wife Breege? He's a true blue from longsight and drinks in there! I saw him on camera when GC made his gaffe??

The family went in Oct 2008 and had a good time. Stayed in a hotel in Queens near the No. 7 subway and would stay there again if we go. The neighbourhood was sound and the local diner was brilliant, Pete's Dinner on Queensboro Boulevard.

But i agree with her as well!

I like you ;-)

well I guess someone has to like Chicago, LOL

(and I'd better make the most of it since it looks like it's going to be 'home' for me for the next few years... or maybe more like 'base'; I tend to operate out of and treat my abode as such)

good ideas for NYC regarding the Marriott's revolving bar which I've been in 'on the razz' and with friends - to show them a bit of NYC, and there is so much you can do in NYC that there is nothing else that compares. It is what it is, it is unique.
