Newcastle (a) post match thread

Or maybe see it as a huge fucking lifeline in the title race.
Completely agree with this. We can dwell on past mistakes and look at the points we’ve dropped that we shouldn’t have, or we can look at what’s ahead of us. 5 points isn’t all that much and we have 14 to play. I’m not saying the title will be ours, but we’re certainly not out of it just yet.

I expected nothing less than a 7 point gap tonight and in all honesty I was thinking we’d probably blown it. Now we are only 5 points behind and psychologically that result should be a huge boost to us.

Got what we deserved in that game, foundations for that performance were laid against Huddersfield, attitude problem from the players for me, air of arrogance about turning up and winning especially with the early goal

Obviously a welcome result at liverpool tonight and it will get our tails up for the arsenal game but what really concerns me is how bad we are capable of playing with the high level of quality this team has. I always knew we had slip ups to come but never expected to see probably our strongest team play so badly last night. Scary. Its put a big doubt in my mind now as to whether we have it this time around to win the title. Can anyone make me feel easier?

The squad needs refreshing for sure and we know the areas that need improving if we are to ensure we don't lose games from having leads like we have done 3 times this season.

As someone said we might be going through a long period of time whereby a side doesn't win two titles on the spin.

Pretty lethargic today and it will be interesting to see how we cope over the next week.

Things have fallen into place for Liverpool this season and they have taken advantage of it.
First thing I would do is get rid of Walker he is a consistent liability. AND has 1 peg only..... NEVER seen him use his left foot.

Lets just hope we dont have the same arrogance against Newport or Middlesbro or the season could really become a damp squid !!

I’ve just watched the match and didn’t know the score ... kept away from the sports pages. So disappointing. Nobody played well and Pep didn’t look like his usual self for the whole of the match ... he looked as if he was expecting to lose. Is something happening behind the scenes?

IMO our forwards miss to many opportunities & good chances. Yes we have many goals between many players but Liverpool front 3 are prolific they take more 1st time opportunities than any of our front 2.
Salah just doesn't miss diver or not he is there fucking heart beat.
True, Salah is scoring goals, but approaching 27 he's had two seasons in his entire career of scoring goals. Maybe he'll continue scoring or maybe he'll revert to doing what he's done most of his career and be more of a dangerous wide player. If Liverpool don't lose some of their best players for a few weeks through injury (like us) then that will be freakish.

Dont think so, Pep was frustrated like we were at such a lack luster performance

Don’t know wtf has happened to walker? romours of “off the field issues”? his form has nosedived big time hes been dreadfull last few mths needs to sort himself out big time

I just knew we would get beat. Too many omens:
City unbeaten in 22 v Newc
Ex dippers boss opponents
Pep would have beaten Maureens record number of wins in first 100 games if we won
Thirty odd unanswered goals in Jan
Newcastle no points from a losing position all season.

Hopefully some omens for Liverpool v West Ham on Monday.
Hammers hammered by Liverpool the last few times they have played.
No points dropped away v teams outside top 6
Ex City boss in charge of their opponents.

Come on Pellers!

Don’t forget Zab and Nasri at West Ham.

Imagine dropping points to Leicester hahah, how shit can you be??

On a serious note though, although the Newcastle game is now even more a missed opportunity we have been given a way back into it, it’s up to us to take it.

At least we have history of being the team to come from behind to win it, rather than a history of bottling it.
