Newcastle (A) | Post-Match Thread

82%+ possession and 919 passes, 1089 touches.
Bruce was happy with 17% possession at home, fuck me.
We literally passed them to death.
Just a bit soft at set pieces and our 4th choice centre halfs didn't control the counter as well as Stones and Dias would leading to 2 pens, including g another Walker brainfart.
I didn't think the 2nd was a pen. He stood on Akes leg.

Pep sounds very excited about Torres :)
After today this kid's potential.. wow!

We'd be spunking fuck all if that money goes on an already incredible Haaland.
Absolutely no doubt Haaland is a talent.
Question has to be would Haaland fit our style of play and be worth the vast outlay?
We’re not doing too badly without him after all.
I’m sure we will be trying to sign him but not at the prices being talked about.

Ake has hardly played this season. Far too early to make judgements ( people have written off Mahrez and Stones). Jesus is a brilliant squad player. No lack of effort from Raheem but it’s not happening at the moment. He may have peaked but he deserves our respect.
Good point regarding Mahrez and Stones

For a dead rubber game it was quite entertaining. Nowhere near our best starting 11 but we still played alright. It would have been ace if we'd scored after that period where we kept the ball for over 3.5 minutes.

Newcastle put out their strongest team, we put out our circus/frankenstien 11 and still won, and made history!
Good entertaining game, and it achieved the desired effect - we know who can rise to the occasion, and who is still in the doldrums.
No real downside to tonight. Just confirmation of problems already known.
