Against Leeds Zinchenko and Bernardo played in midfield, when in the starting XI Zinchenko plays at LB and Bernardo up top. Neither played against Chelsea.

Fernandinho is a backup to Rodri this season. The fact Rodri has played so many more games proves that.



So for me to be clear, do you believe that the team would suffer on a significant level if any of the backup players were swapped in for a starter? Even just one? How the heck did we not lose the Carabao Cup final with Laporte and Sterling playing then?!

How the hell did we beat Palace?!!

I don't know who you're classing as first 11 or back up at the moment with some players. Your initial post said we played with 11 back ups, not even sure which game you mean.
 
Nothings ever easy with us is it ? It could well be a 4 point lead by Friday with an in form Newcastle to play.

My initial post was clearly making the point that we struggled due to the wholesale changes, and that if it had been a small number of changes it wouldn't have been as bad.

If the backup players had featured alongside the primary team they'd likely perform far better. Hence my original post that Pep may want to give some of these players an opportunity alongside some of the more likely starters in the CL final to see how they'd do, rather than in a team of primarily other backup players.
