Geordies Bid For Johnson

Newcastle United have firmed up their interest in Michael Johnson by lodging a bid for the Manchester City midfielder, skysports.com understands.

Joe Kinnear and Newcastle's hierarchy are huge fans of the England Under-21 international, who appears ready to leave Eastlands.

Skysports.com understands that Johnson is very much open to the idea heading to the North East and Newcastle are hopeful they can conclude a deal before the 5pm deadline.

City value Johnson highly, but Newcastle are believed to be offering around £8million and they are confident that will be enough for City to sell.

Johnson only agreed a new five-year deal in September, but Mark Hughes seemingly has other ideas for his first team and Newcastle are ready to pounce.

The likes of Aston Villa, Liverpool and Everton have all shown an interest in the past, but Newcastle look set to pull off a big coup if they can finalise the move in the next few hours.

£8million???????

Aye, go on then. Does Joke in Ear even realise he's not played for most fo the season? Got to be bullshit.

I thought they had already spent to much money on an alcoholic city midfielder. I swear its deja vu.

Sorry rumoured alcoholic.
