Newcastle, eh?

I've always had a theory that the Sheikh bought us because of our fantastically loyal support and the fact that we didnt need a stadium building.

The other reason is that he wanted to see if he could turn over the biggest club in Britain, if not the world, which he did!

Thanks Rags in helping the Sheikh choose us!

Just a theory.

With this information, look what Sheikh Mansour has missed out on !

A club with supporters that shouts for its Manager to be sacked every time the team lose, and want the owner to sod off.

Funny all this 'He should have bought Newcastle' is appearing just at the time City could well be about to surpass the attendances of Newcastle once the South stand opens next season.

When Everton are about to move into a new stadium we may well start to see more ' The Sheikh should have bought Everton !'

Urban myth, such is the little goldfish bowl which is Newcastle, it soon became fact.

I have had the pleasure of Amanda Staveley's company at a couple of functions.

For those who don't know her, she became a trusted financial aide of our owner after a couple of successful deals (she later brokered the bailout money Sheikh Mansour handed Barclays)

As a former girlfriend of Prince Andrew, it opened many a door to the Abu Dhabi royal family.

The initial punt to Mansour was from Sulamain Al Fahim (the gobby property magnate)

He was at a dinner with Piers Morgan, who suggested Abu Dhabi should buy Arsenal.

It soon became clear Arsenal were not for sale through their Emirati links.

Staveley was then asked to identify a club and the rest is history.

They knew Shinawatra was looking for asylum and had previous dealings.

Everton tried to get in on the act after learning of the moves in Abu Dhabi but were too late.

As for Newcastle, they didn't even get that far. Staveley only went after clubs who were happy to give full disclosure of the books.

It was also felt a one club town could not sustain the level of ambition and recognition they were after.

Hence, deciding to shit on United's doorstep.

Whatever keeps Newcastle fans warm at night.

I was in Newcastle at the weekend and big guy at a bus stop gave me the whole history of "how the Sheikh wanted to buy Newcastle, but Ashley didn't turn up" blah blah

He then got on the bus before mine...but when I boarded my bus he was at the very next stop...he had got off his bus to work to get on the one I was on....

I thought maybe he was upset that Sheikh Mansour had bought us, because he looked very flustered...

Turns out that wasn't the problem....he asked me why I was wearing a pink tshirt...because I must either be "gay or proper handy".

I think that's the main reason Mansour bought us - we can tolerate a pink tshirt on a man!

Hang on..... he got on a bus and sat thinking 'that man had a pink t shirt on' so got off again and got on yours just to ask you why you were wearing it !

I thought our lot were weird but Jeez.

Oh by the way which are you, Gay or proper handy ?

Just askin'
I've heard he's a proper handy gay

Oddly, I am neither gay nor proper handy, but never had an issue wearing pink - I got the feeling the guy might have been one of those homophobes who wasn't sure of his own sexuality....perhaps proven by the fact he got off a bus to get on the next one that I was on.

This is the correct version of events. The fact that we shared the same City as the rags was definitely seen as an advantage. We have skilfully marketed ourselves as the local community club (welcome to Manchester, Our City, etc ) There is no doubt we have cashed in on the Anyone But United dimension. It gives me a lot of pleasure that United's success and fame has in this way contributed to the start of our growth and their decline. The fact is lots of people round the world only know about us because we are Manchester's other club. Our name is our there and will only become more well-known as we achieve more success. Perhaps we should put up posters all over town thanking the rags for helping us!

That would definitely be a pleasure; for her financial and business insight of course.

Especially if she prodded you.
