Newcastle (H) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Hang on, Eddie's long passing, usually a very strong suit for him, was atrocious yesterday when under no pressure whatsoever, and even from deadball positions. I had to wonder whether he had bet on himself to fluff 80% of his distribution.
That said, kdb had a similar percentage of incomplete passes, a shocker from him.
i Must have watched a different game to you so I can only apologise

If he's a seven out of ten, then ten doesn't count for much these days?

He's so poor. Gets dragged out, gets outjumped, never senses danger.

I thought in his first couple games, certainly at Sevilla, he looked very assured, but he's a headless chicken when put under any type of pressure or movement.

He was criminal for the Rashford goal the other week and even the players were thinking what the fuck in the win against Villa, when he failed to react to their goal.

Hardwood Bellis should not be loaned out again at the expense of Akanji remaining.
I guess you don’t rate him it’s a shame you have to go to town on him after an excellent team performance yesterday

Seems theres a growing band of posters with a downer on Akanji who, for me, has been excellent from day one.
Yeah, the new Richard Edgehill for some it seems. Personally I also think Akanji's done OK and a bargain at the price. Those who think he's slow should remember how Nunez skinned Laporte in the dippers LC game. Made Eric look like he was running in treacle. Still prefer Stones & Dias but Akanji is a good player to have in the squad.

The same downer they had on Ake but he is the best thing sliced bread now amazing what a seasons coaching from Pep does

He has had a few below par performances but on the whole he is a 7 out of 10. 15 million as well. I thought he did OK yesterday
A kanji is what he is. 5th choice, ok on the ball, rarely gets injured, was cheap, unlikely to moan if not playing every week. Decent squad player. Would prefer a home grown player getting that sort of role personally but he seems like a good lad

I don't rate him and simply discussing his attributes on here.

It was an excellent win against a good team, but if we want to get back to our known levels, then we can't afford passengers, and I have also included Kev in that appraisal.

Kev has plenty of credit in the bank, but Akanji is a huge weak link and better attacks than Newcastle yesterday would have made us pay, certainly in Champions League, as Pep always stresses those margins.
