Newcastle (H) Post Match Thread

signs at times that we can go back to our best attacking play with some great link-ups, some really promising moves.

Defensively looking much more vulnerable and need to ensure the transitions between attack - defence are as sharp consistently as they need to be.

Stunning play by Sane for the third and would love him to keep bringing that out and build upon it, there's another level to pretty much anyone in our squad in Leroy and I hope he keeps going and trying to be ambitious with it.

Do you really not see him wonder forward out of position leaving huge gaps in behind?

Do you not see him go to ground needlessly week in week out?

Am I making that up?
Don't think you're making it up per se kiam06, just being too critical. Pep plays a very high risk system, cb's and fb's high up the pitch. Conceding the odd silly goal like today is the trade off for this system. Better this than grinding out miserable wins like the filth do and parking a filthy red bus.

Sorry fella, don't want a row. He is superb bringing the ball out and creating attacks with pin point passes and has just about cut out "diving in". I think he has been fantastic this season. I guess will just have to agree to disagree.

Little worried by how sluggish we look given a week off.
Sterling for me was average although some say he was great.
Zinchenko looks better going forward and still think he's way off being a regular choice left back.
Ederson again a little ropey at times compared to a near perfect 2017.
Not at our best but ground out a result which is the objective.
Hopefully we find our fluidity again soon but if you can play average and still win that's a good sign and despite the sluggish performance given the chances we could easily have had 5 or 6

The absolute polar opposite of grinding out a result

Think the mood has dropped a bit since the liverpool game. Important 3 points for that reason. Luckily we have the win and can push on for the next games! Fully expect some better team spirit for future games

Commentator on stream I was watching mentioned that the two teams with least number of touches in the first half of any Premier League game so far this season have been Newcastle at home against us and Newcastle away against us. Not really surprising in how they approached both games.
