Newcastle (H) Post Match Thread

There is an inbetween from 'ultimate performance' and 'sluggish'. Today esp 1st half we were relentless for most the half. Rapid attacking which isnt easy against 10 b&w buses built like boxers. 2nd half was more about a balance between conserving energy and rapid attacks. The slower moments have an importance two fold: move the opposition around to tire them and lull them into dropped concentration levels and secondly conserves our energy before launching a series of attacks. No team c
an attack for 90 mins, not even us. The match I saw we were great for the main part except a few mins of sloppiness in the 2nd half. Just the way I saw it.

Pretty much the way I saw it! The problem is that with every bollock we drop a goal is scored, and we turned the corner today in bollock dropping when Ederson had one of his senior FOCs in CBL3 moments and dropped the ball twice! But on the other foot we could have had the benefit of a dozy lino who didn't flag Raheem offside, and the two shots from de Bruyne and Sergio which went just wide would have shown the whole viewing public why NUFC didn't get too much of a sniff today. We had 18 corners to their none, and at one point in the second half we were running with 85+% possession. But it still gave Fletcher on BT the chance to bleat that NUFC had defended so well when our third went in.

I think we'd be fine starting Diaz and Nmecha against either Bristol or Cardiff tbh, don't know what Guardiola thinks though.

not against bristol i wouldn't ...they were one of the strongest teams we have faced this season

id go weaker in the Cardiff game even at the risk of losing it

not at our best but pretty dam good .. imo

I was hoping for a full team and individual set of performances today, but we fell a wee bit short of that. Leroy, at the beginning looked as though he was gonna have one of those days, and then turned in that unbelievable assist for the third, Sergio back banging then in, Kevin and David still pulling strings, and Ferny putting in another immense performance. Just wait till they all hit form together!

Add toure as well (assume not injured and just left out today). Tosin to slot in too and that's half the team changed

i loved Yaya but in this system and now with his age i don't think he should be playing...he is a huge weak point unless you change the set up of how we play and i cant see Pep doing that

Thought in an attacking sense we were great as usual. Could have easily had 6.

We will win the league no doubt.

The CL will be tough though. Pep will set us up to attack whoever we are playing. As he did when at Bayern. The trouble is when you get hit on the break by teams with great attackers.

But to be perfectly honest, unlike the owner, just want to win the league decisively for a change.

Agree but i was referring to the Cardiff game to rotate key players, I can imagine and expect pep will play him

Seriously mate - stop winding everyone up. We are having an incredible season and should be immensely proud. If you are a city fan we don’t need fans like you.
Not winding anyone up just giving an opinion on a forum that's all.

Happy for Sergio.

Sané is going to be one of the very best in the world.
