Newcastle (H) Post Match Thread

We're obviously not at our best. Kev injured, Sané missing, Mendy not up to speed yet.

We just need to get 3 points and move on to the next one until we hit form again.
 
No side is tearing up the games at present with Spurs , Chelsea and Liverpool probably a bit more settled than us so far but having 16 players at the world cup and Wolves looking like they will cause most teams a problem or two at home its understandable we would be rusty by the standards we set last year.

Clearly the premiership is going to be a lot tighter this year but we should be one of the sides in the mix come the business end.

Lets see how we come out of the " break " and we will know a bit more after the ensuing games.

This league is pretty tough now to dominate and last year while we hope not was the exception to the rule in the past 10 seasons albeit the premiers have won by comfortable margins in the past 3 seasons.

To win it two years on the spin probably won't happen too often in years to come.
 
Very happy with the points. Would rather we won with panache but it doesn't matter.

We looked uncomfortable and hesitant with the formation today but I can fully understand why Pep is trying to get us to play in a variety of ways. Maybe a bit of short term pain for future gain.
 
Poor performance from every player bar the back 3 and Sterling, walker streets above.

Mahrez and Mendy need time. Simple as that. Clearly not firing but showing glimpses.

Pep will need to take lessons from games like this. He took a gamble with the system and it backfired a little in the 1st half. He fixed it eventually and we got the win. Lesson learned I hope.

An of the day, after 4 games we have the same amount of points, one more goal conceded but one goal more scored. We also won the community shield and, remember, virtually all our Players are lacking in fitness.

Considering it will take a miracle to repeat last season, being level at this point is very very promising.
 
Get the 3 points, keep working, keep adapting and improving and all will come good.
 
In the pre-match thread I made a wish for Walker and Mahrez to score.
More than happy with Kyle's rocket winner.
Riyad settling in. Bernardo made a real difference when he came on.
