Sterling was far from excellent, the only thing that entered that bracket was his assist. His overall contribution lacked conviction and authority again.
I disagree. I think he has been poor this season but I thought he made some very smart runs and his link up play with Cancelo was City's main attacking threat. I really liked the way he hovered out wide and then accelerated at the last moment to provide a cutting edge to City's attacking game.

Was worried about Walker being out and I know fuck all because Cancelo was outstanding. Well played blues
Worry about that in the games to come because it would have been ideal to rotate him now. We didn't miss him in this game because Cancelo was simply remarkable. One of the best games I have seen from a City full-back. Walker is of course a very different type of full-back. Walker has power, Cancelo has finesse. Both are very important.

We saw yesterday a world-class player playing at the top of his game in his best position.

Could Cancelo play right-back and Walker left-back? Walker's recovery pace is an important asset for the side.

Another theme in this game was another sub-par performance from de Bruyne. Apologies for those who get irritated about negative comments about City players but his form this season is a big feature and cannot be ignored. His lack of intensity takes away from our game off the ball and is exploited by fast counter-attacking sides like Spurs and it takes away from our offensive game. This is going to affect us in the Champions League which finds weaknesses out. If and when we get to the latter stages, top quality really counts and you can carry no one.

Sterling has also been poor this season partly I think because he has struggled without Jesus or Aguero but played out wide against Newcastle I thought his game was exceptional yesterday and there is clearly no drop off his physicality.

For me City are struggling to score as many goals this season because KDB has dipped and because Aguero and Jesus have missed so many games. I thought Torres had a good game in respect of his runs in behind. He deserved a bit of luck with his goal and took it very neatly. Good for his confidence.

Torres is a plus for City. Playing as an emergency striker is to his credit for City. Look how celebrated players like Timo Werner have struggled. Scoring goals at this level is not easy and yet he is doing it albeit at a lower rate than Aguero would have done.

In the few minutes that Aguero was one we saw one classic Aguero moment where he was at the right place at the right time for that Cancelo cross and a good save too.

Getting Aguero back would be good. I wonder how close he is?

How the Fück did VAR not have the pikey sent off for that elbow? If that had been a city player, it would be on Sky national loop screaming for a public execution.
Disgusting and blatant cheating/ignorance by the ‘officials’

Cancelo was excellent, I hope he can carry this forward and keep his place. Eric needs game time, get him in at left back.
Great to see Stones having a good game again.

Gundo was like a Jack Russell.

Rodri needs to improve, he’s nowhere near the quality of Ferni yet.

2-0 in awful conditions, but we are still spunking away chance after chance. We MUST put them away, because we all know what we are up against. The idiots in charge won’t want to see us picking up wins and not conceding goals. We HAVE to be more clinical and ruthless.

Onwards to the parked bus that will be Everton.

Great and needed win! I really enjoyed how we setup. We had 3 at the back with Stones on the right, Dias Central and Ake on the left. So it looked like we were playing 3-6-1 most of the time.

Ake was great in the back and Cancelo was immense moving forward. Walker is great in defense but cannot offer what Cancelo offers moving forward. I think playing 3 at the back with Cancelo pushed more forward will really create problems for other teams.

Gundogan is really bossing the midfield now!! Rodri is still struggling with his pace

KDB needs to be sharper. Sterling great on the right, frustrating on the left. Silva is getting more minutes and eventually the real Bernardo Silva will stand up

Torres is working really hard and I am very happy for him considering he is not playing in his natural position and he managed to score a goal!

Ederson was solid and some of his saves were very important otherwise we might have had a different story to the game.

The Striker problem remains and issue for us. If we had a natural striker, Cancelo would have bagged atleast 3 or 4 assists. His deliveries were as good as KDB sometimes

I believe we are slowly creeping back to our form however we really need a striker or atleast for Aguero to be fully back.

Great 3 points

Just seen the highlights. Had Sterling or Sergio been clad in scarlet there would have been two pens. Somebody convince me they were not fuckin' penalties. Just had a text from my ERO "Why is that not a pen?" with ref to some incident in the Sheff U box yesterday. They are stonewall at Anfield and particularly The Swamp. Teams are gettiing flim-flammed every fuckin' week!
