Newcastle post match thread

18 games to go and 15 points clear. So, we have to lose 5 games and the Rags have to win 18 league games in a row.........it could happen.

too much turkey for most, wasteful in front of gaol, not helped by park a fleet of buses, 3 points, mind the gap. move on

Worst display (in the league) of the season for me. Slow, sloppy, complacent and dreadful finishing. 2nd half was purgatory. Glad to have gotten away with it. MotM either Otters or Raheem. Poor from Jesus, Sergio, Bernardo, Gunders and Walker

Poor second half from us despite the dominance in possession and territory. Our passing went off-beam and Walker looked nervy a few times. One where you take the three points and move on.

Raheem was my MOTM, did some good defensive work to add to the goal.

A few missed chances but beyond that what i expected, Benitez is a sound defensive technician. If they follow that dismal method they will at least stay up this season.

Toss up between Gundogan, Sterling and Danillo for man of the match.

Well deserved win... they didnt try to win it but at least attacked in last 10 minutes.
Thought Kev had an off day but still made the goal and hit the post.
Our fans were superb tonight well done lads and lasses.

The BBC have spoken:

FULL-TIME

Newcastle 0-1 Man City

All over.

Manchester City scrape victory and go 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Scrape victory with only 78% possession, nearly four times the chances, about 20,000 more passes, and the opposition keeper making FIFA fantasy saves.

A few observations:
  • If you can't enjoy a game like this, I'm not sure what you want as a football fan. 18 wins in a row with world class players all over the pitch. Not every game is going to be a 5-0 spanking. When they attacked us and the game opened up, it was nervy but that's what this game is all about. We can't bitch when opponents sit 10 men behind the ball and then bitch when they attack, too
  • I fear for some posters when we finally do lose or draw. Ric should sticky the Manchester suicide hotline just in case
  • Not our best but job done…that being said, need to make these chances count. Aguero not NEARLY as poor as he was made out to be, though
  • I am actually starting to get comfortable with Mangala coming on, good on him
  • Newcastle has the ugliest fucking team I've ever seen
Excellent post...

Frustrating but a win, very wasteful thank god for Sterling again. Kompany shouldn't play again unless in a emergency. Walker has been on the sherry, silva didn't contribute and Jesus was the invisible man, at one point I presumed he had been subbed and I missed it. Otamendi good again as was KDB and dinho. Sane would have been on earlier if it wasn't for vinnies unforeseeable injury.

Should have been over at half time the chances we had.

Another 3 points and not at our best I’ll take that.

Actually think that game will shake a few players up and push us on.

Mind the gap
