Newcastle post match thread

even though it seemed the obvious thing to do, don't think any other manager in the world would put on a striker for the injured CB 10 mins into the game. Love Pep.

I don't think we took the game for granted in the second half, just expected them to come out a bit more but they refused to until last 10 minutes. Think we did the right thing in not overextending for the second goal having missed a bunch of chances.

Sterling and Bernardo workrate to win the ball back phenomenal. Aguero missed his opportunities but had a good all round game. Otamendi MOTM.

It’s the same week after week. Teams playing 5-4-1 formation. Tough game, we really must do better with our finishing. The amount of chances we create is great, but means fcuk all if we don’t put them away. Apart from the save from Kuns header, we were not clinical enough.
Looks like that’s the end of Vinny. Shame really.
Ferni did well there, but we need him in midfield. We will be facing this type of tactic every game now and you can’t blame them. We just need to find a way through it and be more clinical.

His hold up play was pretty good and some of the balls in to him were pinged.
I thought he played fairly well and helped our overall play nicely.

Why people are singling him out (especially after Aguero was well below his lofty standards) boggles the mind.

well done lads

i think KDB is getting the majority of the plaudits - and in a way thats good for sterling, the pressure is of him a bit. its not about his goal scoring record - its about when he has scored them. Sterling must have won you lads a lot of points. he is becoming quietly very important.

Its OK notching 1 from 20 chances against the likes of Newcastle but if we want to proceed in Europe we'll need to be much better up front. I know someone has those completed chances v goals scored stats.

I very rarely find myself criticising the manager, but I thought he got his decision at 11 minutes wrong.

Obviously I understand why he went for the attacking change, Newcastle were a joke with the way they didn't want to play, right from the kick-off, but I felt the change really unbalanced us and we were creating plenty of chances before anyway, it wasn't like previous games when we were struggling to get any chances at all because of a packed defence.

Pushing Fernandinho back into defence left a big chasm in midfield which KDB and Gundogan had to keep dropping back to fill when we played out from the back, and Jesus and Aguero didn't very comfortable with it.

Despite all that it was simply the players' poor finishing that let this game go to 90 minutes in the end,

I also thought we really missed Sané, the Sterling LW/Bernardo RW didn't stretch the pitch that well and slowed us down as they both kept checkin inside -but it's important to get people rested over this period.

Also thought Walker had a sloppy game, but at the end of the day, 18th win in a row, another clean sheet, these aren't serious complaints.

We hardly scraped a win as the BBC would have the rest of the world believe, yeah we had a bad day at the school of finishing but we won and completely dominated the game..
15 points clear and unstoppable now.
Surely even the most pessimistic of us can believe the PL title is coming our way....

You should Play it the Guardiola way

Thoughts with you Adidas Sharston at this time be proud of your education and this team and remember the good times you had.

Aguero has realy got to start putting his chances away. 5 missed today.
All in all just a bit bloody slack.
Bernardo still not quite up to the pace of the Prem - He faded badly after 70 mins.
Must have Fernandinho as DM.
Gundogan wasteful going for shots when passing options were better.
