I'd have thought there was a pretty clear timeline of these charges available to Newcastle and if there was any evidence that Milan knew ,or Tonali for that matter then Newcastle could sue Milan or the player for non disclosure.

Think there might be an extra clause in players’ contracts regarding betting on football matches in the future.

If Milan knew about this, then they’re going to be paying some compensation to Newcastle.

All seems bit odd. I wonder if the idea was to take the player out of Italy and away from ‘temptation’ and use this in mitigation against any punishment. I find it hard to understand why the club would support him if they were not aware prior to the signing. I also think he’ll be back in Italy within 2yrs.

Most Italians don’t settle in England, for whatever reason.

I don’t think it’s likely that Newcastle knew about this. They’ve got to support him as he’s a £50m asset.

Really weird that newcastle are treating him like a victim here. It's nobodies fault but his own and unless they knew about it and still signed him which seems unlikely, he's very clearly deceived newcastle by refusing to disclose what he's been upto. Geordies should be fuming with him for knowingly putting them in the shit.

If players are under investigation shouldn’t they be sidelined until they are cleared?
