Newcastle Thread - 2023/24

Quite frequently ive felt that city could light someone up for ten if they choose to but more often than not they just manage a game out once they have won to conserve energy. It was a good victory and some days you have a day when everything goes for you, and im sure there team will be alot stronger than ours on wednesday but lets not get to giddy, remember a few weeks back they absolutely hammered villa and they were gonna be real contenders for the title and come and roll over us as we had just had the super cup and were tired etc etc, that didnt pan out how they expected.

Standing there almost 30 mins after the final whistle, all misty eyed after beating the bottom team in complete disarray, fans celebrating like they've won at the Nou Camp. Fans wanting 10!
I'm sure another club would be regarded as disrespectful?
We've been branded disrespectful already today and I couldn't care less. The only shame is that I don't mind either of the Sheffield clubs and could think of a few others where I would love to see us slaughter.

We were far too passive that day. I was pleased that we only lost by one goal but I felt we didn't give you a game and never really put you under pressure. We could have tried to get at you and then could have got pummelled but that's football. We looked like we didn’t want to prod the bear in case we took a battering and that doesn’t sit right with me.

i think it will be different on wednesday, all i was saying is that is that look at things as a whole rather than the last result

Mick i think every fans wants ten..i remember shouting for it v Huddersfield...nothing to do with Huddersfield but if your team can score TEN!... Every fan wants their team to keep scoring and they'd be dicks if they didn't jump up and down when they did!...disrespectful my arse

That's exactly right, if we played you say in November then Howe would have been more cavalier...but i think he thought that if he went for it and got done by 3 or 4 heads would drop, would be harder to pick up points after being so early in the season....Amass some points then play us say in Nov / Dec and you can affors the risk. Just the way the fixtures panned didn't suit you.

To be fair you were solid defensively last season and were grinding out results at times , which all good teams should be capable of , you are relatively new to the top table and i think it will take a two or three more seasons of investment and a high profile manager to achieve your dreams.
This is not meant as an insult to Howe , he is a very good manager but you will need a more experienced proven trophy winning manager to take you to the next level , if you could prise someone like Simeone from Atletico and with the Saudi money you will be title contenders.
But be prepared for the fall out from the red 'istree clubs it will be never ending and you will notice the wind change in the media , human rights / sports washing and all the other bullshit will escalate alarmingly
We have had this crap for so long we are now beginning to enjoy the piss boiling from the haters , it proves we are doing something right.

I remember going to Chelsea in 1980 and we were getting beat 3-0 and we started singing 'We want 4', we stopped when they did get the 6th.

I agree that we're probably 2 or 3 seasons away from competing and I'll take that any day considering where we were 2 years ago.

Our takeover is just coming up to 2 years on 7th October so we are miles ahead of plan. On our second anniversary of the takeover we'll have gone from 19th in the league on 3 points from 7 played to having played our first Champions League tie at home for more than 20 years against PSG.

That's not just progress, that's astronomical progress.
