Newcastle Thread - 2023/24

Every game they win, the MSM wax lyrical over it.

Really gets on my tits, especially since all this started when a homophobic country took them over. Under Ashley they were a laughing stock.

I think they deserve some good press. The last time they had some good shit was when Sir Bobby was there and maybe Hughton briefly. It only feels like yesterday they were employing Joe Kinnear who was calling players Kebab and Insomnia. The media lapped it up lol

Seems to be a big complement that they try to shithouse results against us but play football v PSG.

Disclaimer** Not seen anything of the game apart from the goals so could have shithoused this one too as the MSM won't be calling them out.

Great result for them and they are progressing well but are still a couple of top players short and I’m still unsure about Eddie Howe taking them to the next level but they will get there soon .

Congratulations to @Mick_ and all our Geordie members.

A fantastic performance and result.

I’m really pleased for you all, but especially for Eddie, as some are already questioning his ability to lead this team in the higher reaches of the League and the CL.
I don’t get why some are doubting Eddie. It seems to be based on the idea that he has never had to manage superstars. If such players display huge ego, they should not be at the club. Contrast Pep’s policy with the rags and Fake Ronaldo. Howe has a great record and time will tell if he can do it at a big club. My bet is that he can.

Always thought he is very good manager, a manager who lives sleeps football a manager who keeps calm talks sense and will keep the players feet firmly on the ground after a win like that! Be interesting if they can keep this standard up in the last month or two of the season? Playing 2/3 games a week..

Yes. Squad depth plus players not used to relentless pressure might be a problem. It takes time to get fully up to speed with having 2 games a week.

Delighted with City’s result last night and pleased for every friendly, warm hearted Newcastle supporter that I've met and the Geordies on here. Sounds like a special night for them.

Have to say I didn't rate Howe alot during his Bournemouth time.

However, I think he has really improved himself, the sabbatical he took was very beneficial to him. It felt like he used that time to be much more educated with modern tactical systems. Managed to transform Steve Bruce's dross and ugly Newcastle side into a side very much akin to a 'Liverpool-lite'.

My opinion of him has changed for the better since his return to management. At present, he is genuinely a very good modern coach.
