Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I think it is important to remember that if not for a blatant dive, we would have gone to St. James with Rodri, Kev, Ake, with a hobbled Haaland and not-yet fit Foden, and gotten all three points.
Newcastle also missing isak and Wilson as well as Botman. Injuries just part of the game.

What it Kyles fault that we didn't do enough to win the game.

Again it's the team that posted us points not one player

I don’t think the Gordon dive should have been given, but Walker got away with murder on the joelinton one which should easily have been given to them. He’s a liability this season and needs to get his head out of his arse.

Re. the pen. Haven't seen it , and I don't trust Bluemoon assessments of penalties against us, by and large (except my own!) — but the guy on the OS is going on and on about it, and seems genuinely outraged. According to him, VAR flagrantly did not do its job. Comments?
Sounds like we should have won, especially with chances at the end. Who needs Rodri? I'll take the point.
Yeah, there didn’t look like any contact and I don’t think there was a var review….

If we don’t win and it’s due to good play, although I don’t like it, it’s fair enough. Two Premier League games on the bounce that are tight where the officials have a hand in opposition goals is my issue. The Geordies were diving the entire game and the referee should’ve yellow carded someone long before Clare Balding dived. If there is contact, Clare is already in the air in anticipation. But I genuinely can’t see any contact. I don’t like it. I don’t like it when we do it. Love what Sterling did and achieved for us but he was a serial offender. Savinho did one in his first home game. This is what the opposition and officials are reduced to to try and stop us.

Bernado nearly won it for us at the end, only a fantastic save stopping us getting 3 points.

Difficult place to go at the best of times, Happy with a point as they will turn over teams competing with us.

In my opinion, the important thing today was not to lose. Rodri's injury has not only affected us, it has lifted the opposition and their fans, so a defeat would made things more difficult.

It’ll look like a decent point in retrospect, but I’m not sure how anyone putting out a midfield of Gundo, Kova & Rico against Joelinton, Tonali and Guimares could expect even a point.

Top of the table after 5 will quickly become Top 4 in a few hours, which, considering the last 2 games, is an indictment on the rest of the League.

Tbf, without KDB, Rodri & Foden still on the bench (a world class midfield!), we have to realize that games against the Top 6 are going to be tough.

We have an expensive, well-constructed first team squad. It’s time for it to prove its mettle.

Newsflash: We need a big strong midfielder who can go both ways, scores 5-10 goals a season, isn’t a sick note and isn’t a minutes bother…and at £100M, he’d be worth it!
