Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

We had enough chances to win, a draw would maybe have been a fair result. The ref allowed them to persistently foul without showing any cards. The non penalty on Foden was an absolute howler and their second was dubious at best. The press and sky influence after the Liverpool game paid off and I think that was in the refs and var minds.

Nothing to panic about though.

Richards said that the reason it wasn't given was because he got his shot off, but how many times do your hear the player was late with that tackle and the ball had gone, the foul is always given. Anywhere else on the pitch that's at least a foul and a sending off.

Yes, out of control and studs up. The officials yesterday were an utter disgrace and that includes whatever blind bastard was on var.

You might as well ask some spice head in Piccadilly gardens than Richards, you'd get more sense. He's slowly morphing into Dixon in his comments on our games. The only difference is Richards laughs more. There again he laughs more than the laughing clown in Blackpool.

After the Liverpool goal was disallowed 2 weeks ago and the aftermath with the amount of media hype about Liverpool being cheated, Manchester City was getting nothing yesterday, PGMOL had to please Liverpool by punishing Manchester City and boy did they go to work on us yesterday.

3 strong calls for pen's
clear offside goal being allowed
Newcastle players being allowed to kick us off the park

Yes, Manchester City's finishing was poor and our keeper had to make 3 good saves, but their winning goal should have been offside, The referee was shocking and the match officials even worse ? How on earth can a computer picture be photoshopped and allowed to stand

But worst still is that Micah Richards on Skysports ? Boy that lad would sell his own mother to collect a quick buck
talk about arse licking ? That lad was a exCity player and we gave him his big break through ? he must hate Manchester City with a passion
I think he does, hence the Man City he always calls us by. Just say City you prick

There was an identical foul towards end of game, Tonali again, given as a FK.
If football was my (ex) wife, I’m now at the stage of getting my ducks in a row and consulting my solicitor before I say goodbye.

A few seasons ago away to Arsenal Ederson fouled Nketiah after he shot wide but Arsenal were awarded a penalty. It was the right call but I remember thinking we won’t see it very often and we won’t be the beneficiaries of any decision like that. Seems to me that’s exactly what happened yesterday but no foul this time.
The unusual part of that incident was it was given against a keeper - keepers clattering a striker after the shot happens all the time without punishment normally. Yesterday was a clear foul regardless of whether he got the shot off or not - not subjective in the slightest

Let's just hope LiVARpool continue in their mediocre defence of the title . At some point this season maybe they'll realise It's Forever Their Fault and stop whining . Oh , wait a minute ...

That's what had me laughing in disbelief, looked like they'd thrown it together on Microsoft Paint. There was something going on there, i'd love for them to release the audio, they wont of course.
Are club fans able to, or have written to the pgmol asking for explanations and evidence ?
Not that I expect them to entertain a reply. Yesterdays offside decision, imagery and time delay is the most suspect I have seen.

No, project players are largely what we have bought since the treble. Hence the huge drop off since then. Recruitment has been awful, I thought that was widely accepted but apparently not. For what it’s worth I hope you’re right but I think you’re just naming players and saying they are “cracking”. Oscar and Rico are not good enough. Marmoush isn’t pulling up trees and Pep seems reluctant to play him. Savinho…Cherki and Reijnders are hopefully the start of an upwards trajectory of recruitment. We still need another CB/CM/RB and probably 2 wingers with atleast 1 being world class. That’s another transitional year.
if you'd started that a comment with a yes and omitted the next three bizarre sentences I'd have agreed with every word.

Yeah, that pretty much sums the daft twat up. Like you say for example a fullback clears the ball and the forward catches him it’s always pulled back for the foul.Just before h/t Nico played a shot pass but was clipped after it and we got the freee kick.

I wouldn’t mind it not being given or the winner if we didn’t have the shite that is VAR

The vertical yellow line in that computer image is drawn to include Dias' upper arm. But the way I understand it arms don't count toward keeping an opposition player onside.
Do you know if that was the image used in making the decision?
I doubt we’ll ever know for certain but it was the image they flashed on the screen several minutes after the decision was announced. If it was the image they based their decision on it’s difficult to understand the delay in showing it.

Nothing bizarre about any of it. The drop off in the last two years is down to recruitment.
We are barely a third into the second post treble season, last year the team ran out of legs in midfield with Kevin, Gundo & Kova and in defence with Walker plus multiple concurrent CB injuries along with the loss of Rodri. Not recruitment - there wasn't any.

We’re into the third. EXACTLY there was none. No recruitment = poor recruitment. The team ran out of legs because we brought an aging Gundo back and the club had to run Rodri into the ground again because 100M wasted and look what happened, we’re still feeling the effects of it.

Ah the CB injuries, that’s probably because we went into the season with about 6 defenders for 4 positions, 1 of which is constantly injured and another, half the fan base don’t even think he’s a defender. Then add to the fact we have 3 wingers who just refuse to score it seems…poor recruitment. Can’t believe I need to argue this with another City fan.
