Newcastle United (A) | Post Match thread

point gained. poor for lengthy period, but showed decent fight. need to cut out the sloppiness.

Never seen Pep’s tactics failing so badly ever. Walker is probably the least technically gifted player in the entire squad and Pep play him inverted, allowing potenitally the best counter attacking winger in the league acres of space. All three goals happened through St.Maximin racing down the left side. I’ll take a point, after being 3-1 down, but feel we could easily have won it
Could have if haaland takes that chance at the end and the 1 on 1 he had with the keeper

Even being two down, we really should have won that match. The red card being overturned was a disgraceful decision and the next time someone has their leg broken by a bad challenge, we need to call this out.

Seemed to stop playing with 10-15 minutes left, and a couple of substitutions could have made the difference. Gundogan in particular looked knackered and I think Mahrez running at their defence could have got us something at the end.

Bigger picture though is that we’re still not properly fit, we can’t play inverted full backs when the opposition play with wingers, and we need to buy a proper full back before the end of the window. Once Haaland is up and running though we’ll be probably win it.

Going to avoid the tele now though as they’ll be an avalanche of bullshit about how wonderful Newcastle are and what a genius Eddie Howe is. Newcastle are in fact a shit team, Eddie Howe is actually a gormless twat and they caught us on a really bad day.

Players are not machines. They will have an off day. We can’t win every game. We lost our in form centre half half way through the first half.

Against a team on the up and form wise the third best team this calendar year who treated this like a cup final the lads did great to come from 2 down I am happy with the result.

Well done Newcastle. Great support and their team did them proud.

But it’s great being City fan.

Did well to get back to get a point but that was a poor performance overall.

Individually and as a unit we were all over the place. Everyone running away from each other, spaces too large between players, too many long passes, too narrow in attack and defence, making too many wrong choices and the biggest standout was how much harder they worked than us for a good hour of the game at least.

But a point where we could easily have lost.
Otherwise ok?

Front three next week if everyone's fit should be,

Grealish-Haaland-Mahrez

Grealish and Haaland have signs of a partnership blooming should capitalise on it.
