Newcastle United (A) | Post Match thread

Good point that but we did have 30mins to get the winner! The control second half was a lot better seems Howe had them playing like the scousers do 100mph at us don’t let us rest!

I think this iteration of the side might be the weakest since Pep built the 2017/18 side. The balance doesn’t feel good and we have no depth at all. The importance of the players that have left has been seriously undervalued by the fans IMO.

I still expect we’ll win the league because Liverpool don’t look up to it, but currently this side doesn’t get close to 17/18, 18/19 or 20/21 for me.
We're basically banking on all of our new signings to hit the ground running, and Palmer staying fit and stepping up.

Haaland's goals should smooth our path, but I was hoping we could go to new levels by plugging him into an already established super-team.

What have we ever done to Hinchcliffe? Is the big chinned tw*t just bitter because he played for us pre takeover? (Not that it is an issue, should be honoured to wear our badge no matter the era)

Found it an entertaining game.
I may be in the majority but didn't think that was a red card when you see the replay. He was fortunate that he hit kev's knee because it stopped his foot going up and made sure his studs stayed pointing down.

Bad day at the office with a lot of players having some very sloppy moments and just not quick enough. Newcastle worked hard and played well. Hopefully they put in those kind of performances against Liverpool, arsenal, spurs and Chelsea.

I'm worried about crystal Palace next week with our defence. Zaha is on form and so are palace they could cause us big issues next week. Especially with how our defence was today

With you on this

Yes Trppier left the ground but he also had the mindset to pull his challenge
They fouled Kev on 4 separate occasions, all just about on the half way line. City foul Saint Maximan, who’s terrorising us, 2 yards outside the box. We just forgot a few of the basics today and Rodri wasn’t up to his usual very high standards.
Not winning the first 3 games hasn’t stood us in too bad stead the last 5 seasons, so it’s onwards and upwards!

I think Howe guessed correctly we’d try to play the FBs narrow and took advantage of his guys’ pace wide and it made it easier for them to press too. Pep appeared to change it and it helped. Pope saved them. Little worrying that Ake is hurt with Laporte still on the shelf. De Bruyne is magical. Thought Silva was excellent too. Personally I thought rescinding the red was probably the right call but it was close. Pretty relieved with a point TBH and we showed a lot of spirit.

Newcastle dug in when a goal down and rolled their sleeves up and turned the game right around, they deserve a lot of credit but it’s no use if they don’t follow up on what was a fantastic draw for them by putting in the effort at their next home game,as for us all going to plan a goal up then we completely fall to pieces all over the pitch, wasnt until we made it 3-2 that we started to look more like ourselves but given the overall performance I’m happy enough with the point ..
Teams wish they could play us every week.

It's the opposition managers' easiest game of the season when they face us in terms of getting their players up for it.

The issue they have (historically) is they tend to lose their next game which kind of defeats the purpose.

That's the price teams pay for putting so much into proving a point against us.
