Newcastle United takeover?

Depends how you define "a major trophy". If you class one of the three European trophies that were available in "the good old days" as being major, then you have seen them win one. The 1969 Fairs Cup (forerunner to the UEFA Cup);

You'd have been in your mid teens back then.
Jim, according to what I have previously read, the Inter City Fairs Cup was not a tournament that was sanctioned by UEFA . Some people recognize it as a major trophy and some do not.
And I was 13 in June 1969,so not quite mid-teens. And I do vaguely remember them winning it,some black and white TV news reports at the time.

It's on....

Fair enough. Different strokes for different folks. Personally, I would class it as a major trophy. But I do see your point. As for your age, I forgot we were now in 2020 (not 2019), which would have made you 14 (near enough mid teens)!

Like clockwork. Pretty sure they've had takeover rumours this time for the past few years.

Already seeing some of their support saying they'd rather Ashley than Saudi owners

It will come and it will go, like they always do.

The Saudi Prince has enough money and capabilities to put the money down, do the deal and announce it if and when he wants to. The idea he would negotiate through the English press is absurd

Just another reason why they won’t buy players. He was ‘distracted’ by the takeover
