Newcastle United thread 2012/13

Didn't realise part of the Carroll deal was that NUFC get a 25% sell-on-fee. NUFC should avoid Carroll and wait for a nice pay day.

Aye heard a whisper about the sell on clause this morning.

Not sure whether its confirmed or not but interesting if so.

Personally as i have said not in favour of his return but could make for some entertaining negotiating

Seems to me that re-signing Carroll would be a retrograde step from the playing point of view, as he isn't an improvement on Ba or Cisse, though I can see that, in a financial shake out should Ba or Cisse move on for top dollar, it might make some sense - but, its the playing strength that matters most, and Carroll ain't as good as either of those other 2, imho.

Bang on the money! Was hoping that as our initial approach had been rejected that would be the end of the matter but the BBC seems to think we are going back with an improved offer and the lad is quite keen so we shall see. Backward step though i agree but stranger things have happened!

Liverpool paid £35 million for that lump AND put a 25% sell on fee in there!? Source!?

Newcastle, probably my '2nd team' to be honest. Great fans and finally getting to watch the football they deserve. Much better than Sunderland fans imo, if you go on the Sunderland fan forum the players they suggest they should go in for are the likes of Dzeko, Carroll, Welbeck, Pedro, Drogba amongst others. Some deluded people on there.

Latest Quotes from Pardiola today:

Andy Carroll deal is in the hands of Mike Ashley
by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle

ALAN PARDEW admits he is hoping to add Andy Carroll to his Europa League-bound Magpies – but says that the process is now very much in the hands of United owner Mike Ashley and the Liverpool board.

Pardew has made it clear to his own board that he would welcome the return of the big Geordie striker, now it appears to be down to whether the American-owned Kop club are prepared to cut their losses and move on.

And, after an initial offer to take Carroll on loan was turned down, United seem prepared to go back in again for the player they sold for £35m in January 2011.

Liverpool are trying to prevent themselves taking a major hit, but Newcastle’s only offer so far is thought to be around the £13m mark.

Carroll was not part of the Liverpool squad that headed to North America yesterday afternoon as he still has an arranged week off after his Euro 2012 commitments.

And it remains to be seen if he will join up with his team-mates.

Pardew – who has already seen a move for Luuk de Jong of FC Twente fall through this summer – told the Chronicle: “That whole process is a little bit more involved with the chairman and the board at Liverpool.

“We’ve got a great team here, a great squad, and if Andy Carroll comes it’ll only add to us.”

I'm still not sure why N'Castle need Carroll. He is not as good as Ba or Cisse and for the money he will cost (unless you do get him on loan in which case you have nothing to lose and have perfect back-up if Ba's knee does go bust) you should surely spend strengthening elsewhere.

See part of me thinks its Ashley wanting to prove what a good business man he is.

Look Look i Sold him for £35m a year ago and now i am buying him back for half that im amazing!!!

I really dont want him back and dont feel we need him but if it happens so be it as long as we focus on other targets too (Debuchy hopefully)

I think carroll is better than ba , or will be in very near future , selling ba and buying carroll (net spend 10m) will be a decent deal
Problem is carroll will change the dynamics newcastle are playing for last year , seems risky for newcastle in that aspect
