Howe is an awful appointment.

Did a great job getting Bournemouth promoted but the players he brought in whilst in the PL were awful and he didn't develop them.

I think people massively exaggerate how bad he is at signing players. It's one of those narratives that eclipse the truth by a mile.

Danjuma was supposed to be a massive flop, but they bought for 13, sold for 25m and he's been one of the best players in Spain this season and been called up to the Dutch team.

Solanke was a massive flop but he's scoring nearly a goal a game and firing them to promotion.

Aké was bought for 20m and sold for 45m

Callum Wilson was bought for 3m and sold for 20m.

Mings bought for 13m sold for 26m. Lys Mousset bought for 5m sold for 10m.

Ibe for 15m is really the only bad signing, but he made far more money than he lost.

I think the biggest problem is he bought players too young, and they got relegated because those players weren't quite ready to deliver when he needed them to stay up.

Were they his signings or a DoF? Genuinely don’t know.

As you say, most of those signings were decent.

He did okay with Bournemouth playing decent football. Thing is he brought Bournemouth up playing that way, they new how to do it, trying to get Newcastle to safety and trying to get them to play good football. Not sure that's doable.

He got the blame for them so I assume he was heavily involved at least.

He also signed Mee, Trippier and Ings for Burnley and they definitely don't have a DoF.
It’ll be interesting if he’s allowed to buy up and coming players at Newcastle, or whether he’s made to try and buy instant success.

Big money demands big signings and arguably bigger personalities and if he does that and if so will they 'respect' him having not played at international or a high level?

I suppose when you have money you can afford to buy these players further along their development. Buy 21/22 year olds for £30m instead of 18/19 year olds for £15m

I don't get the hype with Howe.

He comes across as Bentwatt type character that's making money of being mediocre with a few mates in the media blowing smoke up his arse.

Probably be next Engerland manager off the back of keeping them up.

He will need to buy players to get them out of the mess they currently find themselves in.

If they can avoid relegation - or even if they don’t - the summer is the time to start planning for the future.

Newcastle needs stabilising before they can attract top players. They have to win games to avoid relegation.

Eddie Howe may not a glamour manager but can get them out of a hole and start building

I don't really know what the point of comparing his record at Bournemouth from 2012-2019 to Newcastle in 2021 is, but if you look at points per game -

Brentford 1.33
Arsenal 0.45
Norwich 1.22
Burnley 0.8
Leicester 0.94
Liverpool 0.31
Manchester United 0.7
City 0.00

He'd get 6 points out of that run if it went according to his Bournemouth record.

Considering he'd be playing 4 of the big 6 + Leicester that would be fine.

Going down with Howe. Abysmal manager.

Media likes to peddle this Bournemouth fairlytale from L2 to PL, but that was totally funded by rich Russian.

It would leave them on 11 points at the halfway stage of the season so would be near certain to go down.

At the time we needed a Hughes to lay the foundation but was always going to be out of his depth after that. Howe is Newcastle's Hughes.
