Think they are getting ahead of themselves and need to sort out their short term future first. Emery wasnt the man for a relegation fight

Strange one about Emery, Wouldn't have thought his style would be suited to a relegation dog fight. But i guess its better than what they have. They will need some serious reinforcements come winter transfer window. No big names, just players whom are better than what they have now. Who's gonna sell midway through the season??? Cant see it happening.

It's funny, they're already dogging out journalists. 'Balague knows fuck all', that after his tweet saying he (Emery) was staying put. Yet when it was on, his and all the other tweets were like Christmas Day.

By all accounts Staveley has put out to the press that it was more or less a done deal, without Emery's say-so. He's found this out and has called time on it, pretty much saying they aren't professional. If that's true their unprofessionalism will haunt them in these coming weeks on the a search for a new manager.

I think they'll end up with Howe, or 'Homesick Howe' as he's known in Burnley.

It's all starting to get a bit keystone cops over there isn't it. I bet they're thinking 'let's do what city did', only problem with that is that we weren't in 19th place and looking dead certs for relegation. It's gonna be popcorn time over the next few months on the 'toon'.
Feels more like Tony Fernandes at QPR than our takeover at the moment. Be piss funny to see them relegated just after Ashley left.

As reported earlier. Emery deal looks like it's off.

I said last night it was strange, he's on the verge of the Champions League knockouts with Villarreal and he'd risk it all to be relegated with Newcastle. Obviously money will come into it but not sure it'd be worth it for the reputation damage that is relegation.

IMO Emery's not gonna bring them the title eventually, but probably has what it takes to keep them up at present. Looks like deal's off however.

Honestly don't think Eddie Howe is that solid a choice.

Agreed. They would have been taking a huge gamble with Emery. They have also been linked with players like Eden Hazzard. He is precisely the sort of player you would not want in a relegation scrap...and not just because he is a crock. The January transfer window will make or break them.

Howe is a risk, relegated with Bournemouth and a known preference for the south, not sure he has the bollocks for a fight.
Gerard may be an option but also a risk, ditto lampard...I'd go all out for Rodgers, offer him the world and sell the project, I think he'd like a go at a big club with a huge transfer kitty.
Suspect it'll be lampard.
