They really should look at the problems we encountered in those early years of our growth.

Tough for them right now because they're starting from such a worse position. They almost need players for 6 months that they can wash their hands with after they stay up. However, if they stay up those players are going to cost more, are going to try and rinse them for as much money as possible and may not be ready for the next step. I think Eddie Howe also fits this criteria where I can see them getting rid.

Plus I think the top clubs around Europe have made it a lot harder to copy us and the money is no guarantee if you don't have structure in place, look at United and Everton's spending, Arsenal were similar until recently.

As I've said previously, we didn't have the FFPR restrictions in the early years that Newcastle will have to contend with. If we had, I doubt Sergio would ever have pulled on the sacred Blue.

I know new owners have a certain amount of leeway, but nowhere near what we had.

His 1st interview at the toon.

Seems like a nice boy.

One down ... How many to go?

They need some key signings this window to stay up, preferably ones that can form the backbone of a side for the next 3 years.

A striker is so so important for them too. I'd also suggest they could do worse than look at a dead ball specialist, they're in a position where free kicks and corners have to be seen as a chance.

Offering £40m for ward prowse may be a good move, and they absolutely have to see this January window not just as their chance to stay up, but as a window when the big boys are less likely to compete.
