It's great news for football in England. The game has improved dramatically since Chelsea and City came to the top table (and LFC got their act together). Leicester and Everton also have decent backers now. It means more investment and more competition.
The new owners of Newcastle will be able to spend huge amounts on infrastructure and their academy which will be exempt from FFP. It will take them at least five years to get to the top table...but they will get there. It also fantastic news for the North East, a region that needs external investment. If we can't win the league then I would be happy to see them do it, or Chelsea or Leicester or even Everton. In fact anyone but the corrupt LFC and MUFC clubs.

It will be interesting if they handle the PR better than us. I notice that in today's coverage most outlets made a point of stressing that the PIF was separate to the Saudi state. That suggests to me the media have had a briefing to ensure accuracy.
We got slaughtered from day one with false claims we had been bought by the soverign wealth fund of Abu Dhabi. That lie has remained out there for 13 years and certain reporters continue to claim City are "state-owned." I believe Newcastle will be much more proactive than we have been in protecting their reputation.
Simon Jordan said it again this morning on more than one occasion

His comments are usually based on his own personal prejudices but I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't even bothered to check the facts. I stopped listening to Talksport two years ago and he was one of the main reasons.

i believe it won't be shopping Tier 1 players.
They would be like us going after Tier 2 and paying over the odds and big fees .....
players like coutinho, dembele, solid premier league players mixed in....should be interesting nonetheless.

Media, going on about PIF being the biggest fund, QSI being second and us now being 3rd richest as privately owned by S. Mansour, i mean what the hell does that matter....all these football clubs are drop in the ocean in terms of investment for these folks offcourse from branding and marketing it pays big dividends.

But it aint like if we are bidding 100Million for a player the PIF will come in and bid 200Million and we cant match them.....plus there is FFP they will be hand tied and will have to take it slowly....will take a few years.

They should invest in training facilities and stadium to attract better quality player long term.
CFG also provide consultant services, i wouldn't be surprised if PIF reach as there is close collab between UAE and Saudis ....and they naturally would want to know key learning we've picked up and pay for those consultancies....

Loving this and hope it happens!

Already boiling the piss out of the usual suspects on twitter.

I would love to see how they go about buying players and who they go for, I always found that so fun when we were just getting started; The Robinho's, Bellamy, Tevez, Wayne Bridges of the world.

'Boro managed to sign Juninho and Ravanelli. Newcastle won't have too many problems enticing players of a certain standing to sign for them if they offer an attractive financial package. It won't appeal to every player but I reckon they'll get enough on board to help them challenge for the top 4 in a couple of seasons or so and, later, for the title. Assuming they make decent appointments on the manager/coaching side of course.

That’s two players,ok Juninho went back again,he was in love with them so that’s fair plus Middlesbrough is nicer than Newcastle as the constant smog means you can’t see the place anyway

That's not saying much we don't even do reactive.

Surely they can’t just splash the cash with FFP, they need to have the income to justify the cost, that won’t happen overnight, that’s why City did what they did at the start with Robinho etc Newcastle can’t do that.
Everton have had a rich owner for the last few years but found the new systems put in place since our takeover are there to stymie competition
