Glad for them, hope they go full force and buy anybody worth buying from two N London clubs.
I agree totally. It was the first of many PR own goals we have scored in the past decade. But I still don't know why we leave false damaging narratives out in the public domain. The Saudi PIF has also invested heavily in the Walt Disney Corporation. Can you imagine the legal response from them if anyone tried to link them to human rights abuses? City are a soft touch. It will be interesting to see how Newcastle handle the abuse they will receive.I think the initially guache and arrogant statements from Sulaiman Al-Fahim about hoovering up the best players in the world with a blank chequebook were unfortunate, played into the “irresponsible Arab plaything” myth and caused untold damage to ADUG’s reputation which continues to this day, even though he was given the boot fairly sharpish and replaced with Khaldoon
Regardless of whether they are taken over or not, have shitloads of cash to spend or not, St Maximin will be off in a flash when another club come sniffing.
No room for development around the ground thoughIt's great news for football in England. The game has improved dramatically since Chelsea and City came to the top table (and LFC got their act together). Leicester and Everton also have decent backers now. It means more investment and more competition.
The new owners of Newcastle will be able to spend huge amounts on infrastructure and their academy which will be exempt from FFP. It will take them at least five years to get to the top table...but they will get there. It also fantastic news for the North East, a region that needs external investment. If we can't win the league then I would be happy to see them do it, or Chelsea or Leicester or even Everton. In fact anyone but the corrupt LFC and MUFC clubs.
That’s why I don’t think it will be that easy for them to start doing a City .......... whatever City did from 2008 and the few years after that Newcastle ain’t gonna be allowed to the same ......... think Chelsea and City did what they did at the right time anyone else after us in for a major battleThey will improve of course but FFP will hamstring them massively. Take them years rather than months to catch up. Maybe a media campaign to scrap it will ensue. We got in just before the drawbridge got pulled up.
Being an ex rag, more likely to be mediacity ;-)
FFP only applies to clubs playing in the UEFA competitions. They can spend what they like until then. They will improve of course but FFP will hamstring them massively. Isn’t there a PL version as well ?FFP only applies to clubs playing in the UEFA competitions. They can spend what they like until then.
