Ederson’s save at 0-0 in the 1st half...

Ian Darke said it hit the post, took him 3 replays to realise it was a save. What was remarkable was that it was over 2 feet away from the post.
Imagine that save was from a keeper who is the best in the world but plays just outside the Manchester boundaries, using the post line takes away all the gushing praise.

I'd posted about Motson being car crash commentary on talkragshite a hour or so before our game well BT managed to equal the ineptitude with their attempts from Wales.

Thought that was a very professional performance from the team. Was nice to hear the praise from the Newport manager after the game. No real stand out performances, just everyone doing their job in less than perfect conditions. Can we also acknowledge the death of the absolute myth that Eddie is not a shot (or header) stopper. That save in the first half was so important and was positively Banksian. Nice to see him still pinging the ball around in the mud. I wouldn't swap him for any other goalkeeper in the world. Zinch put in a good shift again. I can see him getting a good few games at left back this season if he keeps this up. Phil had a funny game. The game was bi-passing him a little other than one or two really nice passes until his goal. Then he scored another very similar one, drifting right to left to get it on to his left foot, he turned into a real matchwinner. Leroy was Leroy and Mahrez was Mahrez. Both will have found the conditions especially difficult. I feel sorry for Ota as without a run of successive games, his couple of fauxpas each match seem to prove that Laporte and Stones are by far our best option but it must be tricky coming in and out of the team. Both he and Laporte should have done better for their goal.

That was a far from easy hurdle though and the fact we did it without much trauma and showed a great deal of class at the same time, both on and off the pitch was really pleasing.

Yep - thoroughly professional performance

I too thought that Phil did not have quite the match that the headlines made out and also that Mahrez and Sane were struggled to get the ball under control. Ok - there was the pitch - but I would have expected those 2 have been more of a threat.

Shout out to the Newport fans - both at around the ground and in the town. Very passionate for their team but made all the CITY fans feel welcome from what I could see.

easy lad ??

Hartsons had major brain surgery in the past and was touch and go for him ?? so maybe its nice to think he still can work in the game and his points out some good stuff
I think the bloke is ill again. Either with his terrible brain tumour probs or on the pop again. Either way, he needs to get it sorted and bt are responsible for looking out for their employees and not putting him on air in that state. He’s usually one of the better ones (although that not hard) but last night was bizarre.

Some scouse clown on 606 when I was driving home from work, reckons City, with our ability to field a third team, of players that nobody knows their name, with all our money, have ruined the FA Cup for fans like liverpools, who used to love the FAC, but now they can't be bothered with it......

I nearly crashed laughing at the idiot, if only kloppy had taken it as serious as Pep has, they might still be in it.....
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
The idiot presenter should have taken him apart, instead just kept agreeing

Sorry mate, but Eddie isn’t a shot stopper and that’s why Pep replaced him yesterday with what looks to be a very impressive new signing in Emerson......

The entire R5 commentary was so County yer had to wonder WhoTF they were playing! The comment at HT was that it was pretty even. They didn't bother with the stats to suggest that County were hanging on by a thread. Had we played that at The Academy, let alone The Etihad, the score would have been double! The top and bottom of it is that we have such quality, we have a manager who prepares, that it's only blind refs who can't see a fuckin' handball in the area we are attacking. I bet a pound of salami to a loaf of bread that Blind Pugh would have pointed to the spot in our area before the fuckin' ball had travelled from a blue hand to the mud!
